Good Riddance to John Cornyn and His Democrat Staffers
Townhall ^ | Aug 20, 2026 | Kurt Schlichter

Posted on 08/22/2026 11:51:18 AM PDT by T Ruth

In perhaps the least surprising revelation of this campaign cycle, besides the epiphany that the guy with a Nazi tattoo turned out not to be very nice to women, was that the Deputy Legislative Director for nominally Republican Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) just enlisted in the legions of blasphemous, demonic Democrat James Talarico. For any Texans wondering if, in retrospect, they should’ve given Ken Paxton a shot instead of sticking with the incumbent, you’ve got your answer: Hell yes. This turncoat, one Jacob Smith, had a central role in developing policy for an allegedly Republican senator, yet he slid seamlessly into the camp of the imp pushing the gender mutilation of children, socialism, DEI, open borders, and gun control. But then again, Sen. John Cornyn would be on a smooth glide path to another term as a senator if he had ever done anything to stop the gender mutilation of children, socialism, DEI, open borders, and gun control — his record on these ranges from AWOL to active collaboration with the Democrats.

So, but for Ken Paxton, Texas’s non-Cruz senator would’ve had the same policies, whether it was John Cornyn or Pete Buttigieg’s Mini-Me.

This is why we Republican voters sometimes have to take the risk of dumping the weakhearts, the losers, and the toe-shrimpers of the ruling class and their regime media overlords in favor of the based.

Something needs to be done to make sure Ken Paxton doesn’t become. John Cornyn, because it’s a huge risk.

If nothing else, Jacob will be able to keep receiving $$$. Heck, after Talarico fails, Jacob will still be famous for “seeing the light.” MSLSD and others will laud him. If he can fool enough people, he will have $$-nonprofits-$$ and $$-PACS-$$, great ways to funnel more money his way.

I’ll see it again. We need staffers to take a lie detector test. Problem is pathological liars have no problem passing them.

John Cornyn has been a U.S. senator for 23 years. Texas loves their RINOs.

Cornyn's only response to this was a snotty X post stating that his staff had a right to do what they pleased. No explanation for why his staff was led by a Democrat. Cornyn himself has not said he'll vote for Paxton, and I'd be amazed if he doesn't vote for Talarico.

No worries, Nick. Paxton has been treated so horribly by Democrats and RINOs in Texas, there's no chance he'd turn to the dark side.

Talarico put his foot in his mouth again, saying the "justice system failed Karmelo Anthony" (paraphrased). Now we see the extent of Karmelo's mind set with evidence withheld from the trial.

Paxton's support is vast and deep. A campaign rally in McKinney two weeks ago had 700-800 attendees, at a venue with a capacity of 500, during rush hour traffic and 100+ degree temperatures. I had to park a quarter of a mile away, a mean feat considering I'm dealing with orthostatic hypotension. No worries, I've seen a vascular surgeon and that's getting cleaned up (hint, compression socks are awesome! lol).

That is changing. It's not just Cornyn that was bounced in the primary. Several representatives were primaried out as well.

Hope you’re right. It was good to see Crenshaw finally get defeated.

Admittedly I had to look up “toe shrimper,” see below. I have to confess I think it’s a bit of a tortured metaphor as used in the article

No, actually... it’s not “a huge risk”, or a risk at all. Only in the fevered imagination of the stupidest leftist ever.

Nick, I just don’t think you have to worry about it. Paxton has all the right enemies and is still standing. He’ll make a great Senator for the country and Texas. God bless him and I hope it will be a wipe out in November (for Paxton of course).:)
