New Jersey teachers heading back to their classrooms for a new school year still don't know exactly what their health insurance will cost them next year.

They do know this: It could get a whole lot more expensive.

The state actuary is recommending a staggering 34.4% increase in health insurance premiums for active employees enrolled in the School Employees' Health Benefits Program in 2027. ---SNIP--- The financial pressure is not limited to teachers. State workers are facing a similar crisis and lawmakers have been slow to act on any changes that could blunt the impact.

It will just be passed onto the school property tax payers. The current tax in Bergen and Morris counties New Jersey is over $10,000 a year for a $350,000 row home. Total insanity, and it’s only going up further.

Well, if they used to pay $100, they will now $134!

Disclaimer:
I have no idea how much do teachers in NJ pay for healthcare, but maybe, this is an example?!
Big percentual rise often hides low baseline.

I’d venture to guess 80% of working Americans would be thrilled to have their coverage. Increased premiums and all.

How many of these “teachers” voted for the Kenyan Obama to fix healthcare? 95%? Sow the bitter seeds, reap the shitty harvest.

I’d have to see what the premiums are before weighing in. It wouldn’t surprise me if unionized teachers pay very little for healthcare. Any FReepers who are unionized teachers to weigh in on this issue?

They don’t put two and two together. MSM makes sure of that.

Our public employee’s nationwide, especially teachers deserve the bery best healthcare America has to offer. OBAMACARE, and they should be required to PAY FOR IT THEMSELVES.

Whatever they are paying now, they will save $2500 per year with Obamacare.

“The current tax in Bergen and Morris counties New Jersey is over $10,000 a year for a $350,000 row home.”

What do you get in return, the privilege of living in New Jersey?

There are lies, damned lies and then there are percentages. This information is useless without knowing what their current premiums are. If the increase is truly staggering, it's seems like the headline would be the actual amount of the increase, not the percentage.

I probably won't end up caring either way seeing as how MOST (not ALL) MOST of these teachers vote for demonicRATS without ever learing that they are who are responsible for the ever increasing expenses of living in a demonicRAT run state.

According to AI(MS Co Pilot)
Using the statewide average teacher salary (~$78k) and the most common coverage (family or two‑adult):

NJEHP (most common plan)
Two Adults: ~5.0% of salary → ≈ $3,900/year

Family: ~5.5% of salary → ≈ $4,300/year
Two Adults: ~5.0% of salary → ≈ $3,900/year

Here’s a thought: fire all the excess administrators and DEI functionaries, thereby lowering the cost for everyone else in the group policy.

School choice! The Catholic school system is doing a stellar job on much less spending per student. To be fair, I must say that non-sectarian private schools and Lutheran schools also do a better job of education.
