The University of Cambridge must uphold its academic integrity in the wake of Jason Arday’s death, its chancellor has said.
Lord Smith of Finsbury called for the institution to be fearless in interrogating accusations of plagiarism and suggestions of academic misconduct.
Writing in The Telegraph, the peer said: “We must uphold the importance of academic integrity.

Lord Smith, who served as secretary of state for culture, media and sport under Sir Tony Blair, had previously labelled the coverage of Mr Arday a “racist feeding frenzy” and said it was correct for the institution to defend him against “unfair, unevidenced, illegitimate criticism”.

Academic integrity.. like East Anglia emails. Or cultural parity. That’s the ticket.
I have a feeling that he has no idea what academic integrity is.
The University of Cambridge's academic integrity is located in the same place as its stable of unicorns.
Why is it a tragedy?
ha ha
Nor the word "uphold" (To prevent from falling or sinking). They already lost their academic integrity by failing to uphold it in the first place.
Who hired Jason?
Uphold? How about Rebuild?
He can start by demoting or firing any and all faculty members who threated students who complained about “Dr.”
Arday’s teaching drivel and were threated with retaliation.
If good students complain about a professor regardless of race, and are threatened with retaliation, it speaks volumes about the university and its administrators.
Universities are lost.
Agreed, at least most are. I hope there are a few still committed to free speech and rigorous scholarship.
> Who hired Jason? <

That makes the university partially responsible for the disaster that followed.
“must uphold its academic integrity”
In order to uphold something, you first must have it — which they don’t
Araday should never have been hired! Dumbassery writ large.
When they hire an independent firm to review the qualifications of every professor at Cambridge I’ll take his statement seriously.
Check with Craig Livingstone.
GOVERNOR: Sheriff murdered! Innocent women and children blown to bits! We’ve got to protect our phony-baloney jobs, gentlemen.
So, the investigation continues, yes ?
Expose the promoters of the fraud, his accomplices, his conspirators, his cronies .
Its called “circling the wagons”. Liberal Cambridge fears being placed under the microscope.
