Israel carried out airstrikes on a defunct military air base in northwestern Syria on Tuesday, prompting the United States to condemn the attack as a threat to regional stability in the latest outburst of American frustration with Israel.
Eight airstrikes hit the Abu al-Duhur military air base in Idlib, a city about 40 miles from the border with Turkey, according to the Syrian state media, and did not cause any casualties.
The Trump administration has been a vocal proponent of Syria’s new government led by President Ahmed al-Sharaa, and the U.S. special envoy to Syria and Iraq, Tom Barrack, said in a statement on social media that Israel’s actions “constitute an unnecessary escalation.”
In a statement posted on X, Mr. Netanyahu’s office defended the strikes on the air base, saying, “Israel and Syria agreed to a status quo in security matters, which Syria was on the verge of breaching by permitting Turkish troops to deploy at an airbase near Aleppo,”

We are deeply concerned that the confirmed Israeli airstrikes on Abu al-Duhur Airbase constitute an unnecessary escalation that does not advance regional stability.
The Al-Sharra government has neither adopted a predatory posture nor maintained proxy forces. It has, in fact, repeatedly indicated a preference for de-escalation with Israel. The United States has in the past, and will continue in the future, to host discussions to encourage diplomatic cadence over kinetic frustration for both nations.
Enduring deescalation agreements are built through sustained dialogues with all concerned nations and principals.
The United States continues to believe that restraint and engagement offer the more constructive course. We encourage all parties to prioritize logical discourse over further military incidents.

Ezekiel 38 WILL happen
Turkey WILL be involved
So will Libya
So will Iran
Just give it time
Hard to place it in relation to
The 7 Years of ‘Peace and Security’
though but IMHO it happens near the beginning
Time will tell
Thank you brother; again, the Word of God reigns supreme.
The question to Netanyahu is fundamentally dishonest, which is, of course, the sort of thing I would expect you to post.
This was not a “military agreement with potentially hostile powers”, this was to be actual Turkish occupation of a base in Syria.
My goodness, we never even put troops in any of what was the former East Germany. (Which was the extent of the agreement with Gorbachev, as he later confirmed.) The idea that, provided Putin even half-way behaved himself, we would have occupied or built US bases in Ukraine is total nonsense and delusion.
Thank YOU
and God bless you ✝️😇🙏🛐✝️
The Israeli charm offensive rolls on.
Israel attacked Syria, not in response to having been attacked itself, but in order to thwart Syria’s military cooperation with a NATO member.
Israel’s stated justification is merely that they don’t want Syria to change the status quo.
How does that differ in principle from Putin’s attack on Ukraine for its repeated desire to become a NATO member?
Putin didn’t conduct an attack on Ukraine, he and North Korea are invading it to absorb it into Russia forever.
So invading your neighbor to take their land when they didn't attack you is bad, correct?
An area smaller than the town of Buckeye, Arizona.
I corrected you about Putin’s invasion to take the European nation of Ukraine in the bloodiest European War since WWII and involving North Korea and Red China, being compared to an air attack on a defunct base that hurt no one.
