Iran has fewer paths forward as its conflict with the United States continues, retired U.S. Marine Col. Mike Jernigan said Tuesday, arguing that the pressure could push Tehran toward an “end game.”
“Iranians are running out of assets and options,” Jernigan said on “America Reports.”
“The economy before this all started was ranked either 23rd or 52nd, depending on the measure,” he said. “They're behind Nigeria and Bangladesh. Bangladesh, known for cyclones and mudslides, had a stronger economy than Iran did before all this started.”
“They are struggling with the economic consequences, and so I think this is moving toward its end game,” he said.
But he said negotiations could be complicated by Iran's new leaders.
“The IRGC is a maximalist negotiator,” Jernigan said. “They want to keep nuclear weapons. They want to control the Straits of Hormuz.”
Jernigan argued that the Strait of Hormuz “is not closed; it’s closed to Iran.”
“10 to 15 ships are getting through every day, and that's because of the queuing to come through to have your papers checked by the United States Navy.”
“If the president decides to resume kinetic strikes, there are 5,000 targets that have already been struck,” he said. “We have 20% left. Those are the energy infrastructure. That's going to cause a problem.”
Jernigan'S remarks came as President Donald Trump said Tuesday that there was no ongoing dialogue with Iran to end the war and that no discussions were scheduled.

Someone should tell Iran.
Iranians are hoping dims win the midterms....that’s why they’re holding out.
Lots of people have been waiting for Dims to win.
I recall that Soviet block collapsed in 1989, right after America elected George Bush.
They were collapsing under Reagan, but they knew that Reagan was term limited.
They hoped for Dukakis to win.
When Bush won, they started calling the communism off and negotiating for safe exit!
what ever happened to that story about 13 days till the wells gotta be shut down? Then they filled all the old ships and stuff. did they ever shut them down or are they just pumping it into the sand to leak back down? it used to be a huge talking point for about a week.. now puff gone.
It may be that Trump is preserving Iran’s refining capacity because America will need it. America is getting no help from its own refiners.
any minute now they’ll be begging to make a deal r-right?
That works if your government doesnt care about machine gunning protesters in the street.
Caring about your people going hungry requires caring about your people.
Iran doesn’t care.
I used to wonder why Trump never repealed the Smith-Mundt Modernization Act which legalizes propaganda (lies) on its own citizens. Now I know.

“South Korea won’t join the war against Iran so Trump symbolicly pulls support while praising North Korea who ironically has a nuclear weapon, exactly what were at war to stop Iran from having.”

If you need S Korea’s help, you aren’t winnjng.
> Iran has fewer paths forward… <
That’s a rational argument. But religious fanatics aren’t rational in the least.
I recall reading an article about the Japanese leadership in 1945. They were throughly beaten everywhere. They had zero paths forward.
No matter. There was thought of surrender.
The same goes for the Iranian leadership today. Truman had the atomic bomb as an option. Trump does not.
So there will be no clean and easy way out here. More likely there will be some sort of compromise that will make Iran look like it has won.
🙁
The Shi’ite Iranian Muslims are not driven by materialism, that is sure, but neither are they driven by spiritualism. More like self-immolation, willing to sacrifice their very bodies to further some cause they shall never see consummated.
Suicidal zealot fanatics. The Twelfth Imam turned out to be Judas Iscariot, who ended up killing himself.
Sorry.
No matter. There was NO thought of surrender.
Lots of people here were for that during the Summer of Floyd.

Beef is now at $7 a pound average in the U.S..
Up 25% from 2024.

B.) Additional things to think about:
“The 2026 Iran war has drastically accelerated the rise in U.S. beef prices by triggering severe energy shocks and supply-chain bottlenecks. While a domestic cattle shortage laid the groundwork for high prices, the conflict has compounded these issues by aggressively driving up the core costs of producing, processing, and moving meat.
1. The Strait of Hormuz Blockade and Diesel SpikesThe ongoing maritime conflict and blockade of the Strait of Hormuz caused what energy analysts call the largest oil market disruption in history.
Transportation Overhead:
Global crude oil prices spiked, pushing U.S. diesel prices to multi-year highs earlier this year.
Perishable Logistics: Because cattle must be trucked multiple times throughout their lifecycle (from ranches to feedlots to processors), record-high diesel costs have been directly added to the retail price of ground beef. Perishable foods are highly sensitive to these freight increases.
2. Doubling Fertilizer and Feed CostsThe agricultural sector has faced a severe input crisis due to shifting energy markets.
Natural Gas Connection: Natural gas is the primary component used to manufacture nitrogen-based fertilizers. As the war drove up natural gas and utility rates, fertilizer costs nearly doubled.
Feedlot Expenses: High fertilizer prices made growing foundational crops like corn significantly more expensive. Because corn feed accounts for 60% to 65% of the total cost of raising a pound of beef, these inflated feedlot expenses immediately trickled down to consumers.
3. Elevated Processing and Utility Costs:
Keeping meat safe requires massive amounts of electricity and natural gas for industrial processing and cold storage. Under the pressure of wartime inflation, domestic utility rates have climbed—including an 8% rise in electricity and a 12% increase in natural gas. Packing plants have passed these elevated operational overhead costs directly to grocery store meat cases.
4. Compounding Tariff Pressures:
The geopolitical instability from the war has run parallel to aggressive trade policies and import restrictions. The combination of global supply-chain friction and heavy tariffs means U.S. ranchers and processors face high costs for machinery, equipment, and alternative inputs, with few affordable international workarounds.” (Google AI)
