NEWBERRY, S.C. (WIS) - The South Carolina Republican Party (SCGOP) announced that a debate will be held between Sen. Darline Graham and Congressman Ralph Norman after they both advanced to a runoff in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate.

The debate will take place Tuesday, August 18, at the Newberry Opera House in cooperation with Newsmax.

“Congratulations to Senator Darline Graham and Congressman Ralph Norman on advancing to the Republican runoff,” SCGOP State Chairman Drew McKissick said. “We want to make sure Republican voters have the opportunity to compare and contrast the candidates on the issues they care about, and get the information they need to make an informed decision.”

Graham and Norman are competing for the U.S. Senate seat left vacant after Lindsey Graham’s death in July.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

This debate is likely the only time Graham and Norman will face off with each other and it should be a good one.

The election is August 25th with early voting starting on the 19th.

Darlene Graham has never run for public office before and is not a lawyer so its likely she does not have real debate experience.

That said, her brother was a career politician, so its also likely she's familiar with the process.

Ralph Norman is a good speaker as well as vice chairman of the House Freedom Caucus. Here's an interview he gave recently to a SC television station.

Ralph Norman is 73 years old. South Carolina can’t find anybody younger? I understand that the cent is a geriatric facility, but dang we have to add to it?

She’s 62 and never debated any tough issues. Other than being Lindseys’ sister, I don’t see great qualifications. If she wins, she will hold that seat 2+ teams. Is that what we want?

Trump encouraged Herschel Walker to run for senate. We still don’t have that seat and may not for years to come. I support Trump but I am not so sure of all his endorsements.

“ I support Trump but I am not so sure of all his endorsements.”

This is so true. Most of Trump’s endorsement are people who were going to win anyway.

Ralph Norman looks vigorous enough to me, and would be a crucial yes vote on the SAVE act legislation.

Plus you can look at his voting record in Congress (not to mention his leadership position in the Freedom Caucus) to feel reassured SC conservatives will be well represented.

I'm genuinely worried about Florida and Ohio, two states that should be solidly red but are now a concern thanks to piss poor gubernatorial candidates.

Graham could be another Murkowski. Norman, on the other hand, is a solid conservative. Graham will likely carry Columbia and the coastal counties, Norman the Upstate.

Yes. Trump is distorting a normal primary with his cult .

WE get weak people who won’t debate because his cult
helps them win without being tested.

Norman will win. He has the Charlotte area vote locked and it’s a lot of votes. Spartanburg/Greenville will probably swing to him by 10% or so. Graham will probably win the coast by 10%, but it’s not enough.
