Yes, worrrying about hemp production is what is keeeing the US Senate going into the night.

The Budd Amendment would strike the langauge below from Senate amendment 6732 H.R. 6500, to extend duty-free treatment provided with respect to imports from certain countries in Africa under the African Growth and Opportunity Act, to extend customs user fees, and for other purposes

SEC. 2019. SECTION 781 EXTENSION.

Until December 11, 2026, the amendments made by section 781 of division B of Public Law 119-37 (7 U.S.C. 1639o note) shall only apply with respect to products described in paragraphs (1)(C)(ii)(I) and (1)(C)(iv)(I) of section 297A of the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946 (7 U.S.C. 1639o) (as amended by such section 781).

[Apparently, Sec 2019 is about Hemp according to the discussion before the vote.]

H.R. 6500 is an existing bill they are gutting to insert their continuing resolution to keep the government open past Septmber 30, 2026.

Motion to Invoke Cloture on the Motion to Proceed to the consideration of S. 5271, The Help America Vote Act.

Yea 52 — Nay 46
Motion failed as it needed 60 votes.

are we supposed to be grateful that this slacker group works one day a year? over 100 days out of session - not including 5-week recess about to start. cut their salaries and pay them what they are worth.

Asinine describes 99% of Congress. The whole Blanche sideshow..we can only lose 2 senators...who wants to be those two? Collins, Murkoski it’s always you two but ok. Let’s vote late so it looks like we’re doing something.

We’ll take the rest of August off and come up with a new drama plan for September.

I cannot despise the Republicans in the Senate more than I already do. I woke today to find out that they are going on a five week vacation without even taking a recorded vote on election integrity, not even on the 80-20, probably 99 to 1 for Republicans, issue of voter ID. Most red states already have voter ID. Most blue states do not.

Who owns so-called leader Thune? It appears that he wants the blue states to be able to cheat in elections.

Perhaps this Senate session should be called the discourage Republicans for coming out to vote session. I do not think that they have passed a single bill of major importance since July 2025.

“ Motion to Invoke Cloture on the Motion to Proceed to the consideration of S. 5271, The Help America Vote Act”

This is a total waste of time and every Republican senator knows it. They do not have 60 votes. They needed to add voter ID to something else that was going to pass. They will now campaign on voting to try to pass voter ID. I despise every senator involved in this fraud on American conservatives.

No matter what he does, SD voters love Thune.

Does Thune “bring home the bacon” in massive amounts to his state? Even if he is in Congress, the other senators do not have to make him “leader”. The fact that they do means that they really like being in the minority and not getting things done for ordinary tax paying American conservatives.

Voter ID should have been passed last year as a standalone. Forget all of the voter registration parts which have some complications. Voter ID alone would change a lot in the cheating states.
