House GOP launches probe into 5 major labor unions over Dem spending despite MAGA membership base

The Republican-led House Committee on Education and Workforce is demanding financial records from five of the nation's largest labor unions over allegations that union leaders used funds to support Democratic candidates and progressive causes while spending millions on lavish perks.

In letters obtained by Fox News Digital and sent Thursday, the lawmakers on the committee requested financial records dating back to January 2023 from the United Auto Workers (UAW), United Steelworkers (USW), SMART Transportation Division (SMART-TD), Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET), and Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Division (BMWED).

"Unions are supposed to be representing workers for their best interests on the job site, for their future goals that they have, and to work together in a commonality that speaks for, I think, in general, all of the workers combined and not just select portions of it," Rep. Tim Walberg, R-Mich., who also serves as the chairman of the House Committee on Education and Workforce, told Fox News Digital.

"When we see funds that have been used by multiple unions for highly political purposes, and you begin to see that the rank and file aren't following along with the same political funding purposes of union leadership, common sense says you ought to take a look at it."

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Democrats are pushing for the Protecting the Right to Organise Act that would repeal Taft-Hartley and turn the balance of power to the unions to take employees' money in ways not seen since FDR, who used union power to create closed shops.

The dues are being used to push for closed shops and mandatory union membership. Returning to FDR-era rules will be a disaster but Democrats push it because they believe non-union shops are a problem. The DNC rejected low bids for services at inaugurations because they were non-union.

Gee, I thought this behavior has been going on by union heads, for decades. Rank and file pay, union heads party, and democrats get elected over and over again. Isn’t that the norm? “Shut up and pay your dues, or else....”

I’m not quite sure why Fox thought it was necessary to add that.

Anyway, the average MAGA union member would applaud a federal investigation into union corruption.

They forgot the APWU and the AFL-CIO.
Too bad I was a complete idiot getting misled into thinking I wouldn’t get good insurance or I needed representation through the union. I needed to part of the (boy I’d like to insert a foul word here) communist union trash it was. I still feel horrible about it.

Evil bunch of mobsters. Took me too long to realize my dues were supporting the very thing I despised as both a believer and a patriot. Constantly posting political content and propaganda on the hallway board and the thicker it got the closer to an Election cycle.

Then Zero hit not only the stage here but the world stage. He (it) was being worshipped. Long before I had dumped the union but I was threatened that I would not get represented in any matters. Told them go pound sand, my Savior Jesus represented me.

I’ve only seen the union keeping people employed that should be fired or incarcerated, and they take tons of money under the table to advance their agenda.

No doubt our Union THUGS will show up here and tell us why the unions, FORCIBLY collecting worker money and then donating billions of that to the Democrats (and virtually nothing to the Republicans), is JUST FINE.

SF mayor Willie Brown turned the South Market street into Manhattan. The unions made a lot of money off the work.

Democrats are pro union bosses, Republicans are for Union members.
So the bosses force the membership to pay dues, which they then use on themselves and to help Democrats!

Very true. And to which I’d add: The bosses rig union elections to keep themselves in power. I’ve seen that happen many times.

And they run their unions like hereditary kingdoms. The retiring boss hand-picks his successor.

It’s kind of suspicious that they left out the Teamsters.

SEIU is 10x more corrupt than any of these unions.
The own their own personal bank in New Orleans where they have funded much of their operations.

he bosses rig union elections to keep themselves in power.

One of the “features” of the union election is that abstaining from vote is a vote “for”.

So, if less than 50% voters participate, the bosses win even if everybody votes “against”!
