The FBI opened a criminal probe specifically targeting Donald Trump in May 2017, alleging the newly elected president may have been acting as a Russian asset when he fired then-Director James Comey even though the bureau’s own evidence overwhelmingly showed at the time there was no collusion with the Kremlin.

At the least, he was crooked.
Alleging that Trump fired Comey because they believed (or rather, wanted to make the public believe) that TRUMP was a “Russian asset”, not Comey. The headline is a bit unclear.
You may be reading the title incorrectly.

Or the writers may have wanted the article to be misunderstood making Trump the agent and not Comey. The left plays word games all the time.
But doing this is awkward to say the least as thier investigation would have to be initiated and signed off by people working within the DOJ and FBI that work for the president. If the story is accurate, then what the FBI did was unprecedented and possibly—I emphasize possibly, since many relevant facts are not included in the Times reporting—an overstep, or at least imprudent. The reason the FBI step might have been imprudent is that it was premised on an inversion of the normal assumptions of Article II of the Constitution. So the NY Times is, again, putting it’s feet into their mouthes.

Comey is an agent but not of Russia.
Comey is an agent of the New World Order, other wise known as the WEF, EU and One World Government or Socialist International.
Either way he should be on trial for treason.
Somewhere in all this mess is a fine line demarking treason or sedition. The fact that we haven’t found it is testimony to the deep roots of the deep state and the uniparty that is its face to the American people.
I agree! I should have added in my post, that the problem is with the headline writer, not the reader.
