Abdul El-Sayed's victory over moderate Rep. Haley Stevens in Michigan's high-stakes Democratic Senate primary is a massive boost for the party's left-wing in its ideological battle with the center-left establishment.
The win called Wednesday morning gives instant ammunition to Republicans aiming to flip a crucial battleground Senate seat the Democrats must hold as part of their midterm push to win back control of the chamber.
Republican nominee former Rep. Mike Rogers, in a Fox News Digital interview ahead of the primary, argued that El-Sayed is "way too extreme for Michigan. I mean, Abdul, he has his own special sauce of crazy."
El-Sayed is a far-left figure backed by progressive champions and socialists like Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and other members of the Squad. He beat Stevens, an establishment Democrat, by 1% when the race was called by AP with 99% of the vote counted on Wednesday morning.
A former Wayne County Health Department director, El-Sayed, if elected in November, would make history as the nation's first Muslim senator. He is an epidemiologist who unsuccessfully ran for governor as an insurgent candidate in 2018. He has made support for "Medicare-for-all" a major component of his campaign.
He has also called for abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and is a vocal critic of Israel amid its war with Hamas — even characterizing Israel's actions in Gaza as "genocide" against Palestinians. El-Sayed, who served as a top surrogate on Sanders' 2020 presidential campaign, has also vowed not to accept PAC donations.

Dems have always been leftists.
That Sanders, AOC and others back this muzcom says A LOT!
We are living in revolutionary times.
Right now, there is no counterforce ideology to the DSA on the playing field that correctly identifies the issues that could be addressed within a political system (i.e., peacefully).
There is also no organized counterforce to their street muscle.
People need to wake up.
Somewhere Ben Franklin is musing. “Hmmmm 250 years. Pretty good run. Wonder if they can keep it much longer.”

What can they do? Voting Republicans promising to reduce the size of government doesn’t seem to work.
Rogers will get it.
There is a very slim chance the Senate could end up 49 to 49 with two independents.
If anyone could call Sanders an independent-the lying sleazy little shyster.
Otherwise, El-Sayed will win due to greater name recognition, turnout from his base and support from fake news media.
Abdul has mentioned his “committment to Jewish safety”. Only time will tell if those are just empty words and rhetoric (as is the case with most Democrats)... or if he really means it. I’m thinking it’s just the ssdd BS the leftists spout to win elections. After the win, the real persona and agenda is displayed... ugly as always.
He has already called Rogers a Trump boot-licker. This guy strikes me as an ‘openly Muslim’ Obama (one that is out of the closet, that is). Abdul is “articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.” He will manage to convince a lot of gullible people into thinking he’s the best thing for America since sliced bread. I predict that Abdul will be running for president after his Senate win. This guy is a danger to our nation, as founded.
“”The only way Rogers can win is if Trump campaigns on his behalf in Michigan.
Otherwise, El-Sayed will win due to greater name recognition, turnout from his base and support from fake news media.””

Actually, Trump campaigning for Rogers in a blue state will all but ensure a win for Abdul. Bank on it.
If Trump campaigns for him that’ll be the end of Rogers.
Didn’t the polls have this as a blowout? He won by only 1%?
Michigan is a purple state.
Stevens massively outperformed in the early and mail-in voting. Election day was largely El Sayed. Maybe the pollsters were picking up on that?
I’m ok with this. We have been fighting demorats who look like us at election time and look like Karl Marx in office for decades. Witness the poster boy Sherrod Brown.
“Independents” who always caucus with the Dems, not Republican? Ever. Great.
And would have lost if there had not been a third candidate running.
I was born and lived in that state.
And right now, Trump is not viewed well. Matter of fact, a lot hate him outright.
For Rogers to get it, he will have to take the upper lower and all the UP. And Marquette, Alger, and Gogebic counties are heavily swing counties. Marquette being largely Democrat.
Osborn “says” he wont caucus with any particular party.
Ya right.
Very slim chance it ends up 49 to 49. Would be interesting.
