In an unexpected move, a group of young Republicans endorsed a Democrat running in their Central Valley district instead of his Donald Trump-endorsed opponent. That bold move could cost that local chapter its official standing.
Last week, the Madera Young Republicans endorsed Rep. Adam Gray, the incumbent Democrat who has represented California’s 13th Congressional District since winning the seat in 2024. The endorsement was spotted by an online poll tracker, which showed a screen capture of the group’s Instagram post.
In response the California Young Republicans, the state’s umbrella organization, said it would take swift action against the satellite group. It said the move was an “egregious” violation of its bylaws, which prohibits member chapters from endorsing Democrats.
“We have initiated a formal disciplinary proceedings against the Madera chapter, including the beginning stages of disbandment and dischartering providers to remove this chapter from our organization,” a statement from the California Young Republicans said.
The group denounced the endorsement, calling it an action that “fundamentally betrays the conservative principles” of the organization.
They continued that the “the decision to endorse a Democrat demonstrates a complete abandonment of the mission and values that define us as an organization dedicated to electing Republican candidates and preserving conservative ideals throughout California.”
Gray is not just any Democrat in California. He leans more towards the middle of the political spectrum, and on several occasions, he has split from his own party. He was notably the sole Democrat from California, and just one of 13 Democrats total, to vote to end the government shutdown last year, a move that signaled he is willing to compromise with Republicans to bring necessary funding, such as SNAP benefits and promised healthcare funding, to constituents.

If you want to endorse a Democrat, why sign up with Young Republicans, which I am sure isn't popular t college?
To stop a Muslim commie militant from being elected instead? Practical?
They may indeed be “young Republicans” but...they aren’t young “Conservatives”.
Young RINOs.
Does anyone know anything about the Republican they chose not to endorse?
Every Organization with some power gets infiltrated by The Left. It’s what they do. It’s what they “train” for.
The can never win an honest match, about anything.
Lie, Cheat, and more lying.
A big reason why lots of MAGA folks don’t give to Organizations.
Give to Candidates, not to the corrupt buckets.
What was the basis for this endorsement?
We may think we’re ahead in the central valley but we’re about 50-50.
“They may indeed be “young Republicans” but...they aren’t young “Conservatives”.”
It’s probably a safe bet that most (or all) of them went to Public Schools, so the Democrat endorsement should have been expected.
How many is in a group?
How many want this to be news?
More TDS
If TDS, they wouldn’t join Young Republicans?
That’s probably more like it.
I don’t get it. If they are RINO’s, they caucus with the other side, but get all the same abuse as if they were real conservatives.
They get none of the good and all of the bad. What is enticing about that?
Father: "Where did you learn that kind of betrayal?"
Son: "We learned it from you, Dad. All the weak kneed failure to stand up and fight in the House and Senate, all the compromises to lobbyists, all the reaching across the aisle and the intraparty bickering that resulted in no passage of the Save America voting ID act and so much more. We learned it from you. And now you're on another recess vacation."
All Democrats are commie militants.
“All Democrats are commie militants.”
A subset of them are commie mutants.
And a smaller portion are commie mutant militants.
“Gray is not just any Democrat.... He leans more towards the middle of the political spectrum, and on several occasions, he has split from his own party.”
Believe it or not, these actually are accurate statements.
Gray’s district is as 50-50 politically as he is. The recent Democrat gerrymander in CA helped him out (it’s now D+3). Gray’s opponent, Kevin Lincoln (R), comes off as somewhat vague and kind of squishy. Not really a stark contrast with Gray, but a 100% conservative isn’t going to win that district anyway.
Gray is one of about half a dozen Democrats in the House who could be plausibly described as “moderate”, along with Don Davis (NC), Jared Golden (ME), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA), Vicente Gonzalez (TX), Henry Cuellar (TX) and a couple from Long Island (Tom Suozzi, Laura Gillen).
Davis, Golden (retiring in 2026), Perez and Gonzalez all represent Republican-leaning districts (Davis’ district was pushed to the right last year).
They, and Gray, all try to walk a tightrope right down the middle when it comes to their votes in the House, as does Cuellar. Suozzi and Gillen are a tick more to the left.
In the June primary in California, Democrats outpolled Republicans 57% to 43% in Gray’s district. Gray will likely win by about 10 points in November.
Total BS! They’ll learn…albeit the hard way
“Yeah well, like my girlfriend told me to” is the level of thought applied.
Followed by a “doop-t-doo”.
They’re not republicans in any sense. Wolves in sheeps clothing. Republicans rarely endorse or vote for insane democrats. Especially now. I never have pulled the D lever in almost 50 years.
