The Minnesota man who pleaded guilty to killing a top Democratic lawmaker and her husband was sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison on Thursday, a little over a year after the political attacks.
Vance Boelter, 59, was sentenced to two consecutive life terms plus 40 years in prison after pleading guilty in June to the six counts related to the killings of House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, and the shootings of state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette.
Fellow lawmakers and survivors of the shooting spoke earlier in the hearing, describing the lasting fear and physical harm that Boelter caused.
Boelter pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty; instead, he agreed to the maximum sentence he could be issued short of the death penalty. Mark Hortman’s father and siblings voiced their anger that he would not face the death penalty.
Wearing orange prison garb and shackled at the ankles, Boelter sat extremely still, never looking at the survivors and family members as they read their victim impact statements.
Victims and survivors describe the impact of the attacks In court Thursday, Sen. Hoffman said he and his family are constantly reminded of the extraordinary violence of that night, even in the mundane details of day-to-day life. He said they don’t receive mail at home anymore, they installed solid steel doors, and that they have changed how they do everyday tasks because of their injuries.

Any reporting from AP on the ethiopian that just killed 3 people over parking in MN?
Shudda got the chair.
A Tampon Tim acolyte?
I assume we will never know the what or why of this.
That means he’ll be out in five years.
Or the noose.
Discussion of motive is glaringly absent in this article.
I'm guessing solid journalism would require some mention...

The racist democrats feel that non-whites do not know any better and perhaps they had arrived in this nation not knowing all of our laws therefore the ethiopian will likely get a free stay out of jail card and maybe citizenship if the dems had their way.
I remember this one. It started out looking like Dem on Dem violence. The victims were Dem legislators who had worked with state Republicans to get a piece of conservative leaning legislation passed. But then the shooter turned out to be some kind of evangelical Christian lecturer.
The media fails to mention that these two democrats had voted with republicans on a bill against illegals shortly before this shooting.
But that is just a coincidence?
Exactly, and these were the only 2 democrats that voted with Republicans on that bill and shortly after they were hunted down and shot. The female legislator and husband were killed.
But no motive was established, my a$$!
He shouldn’t be judged by what he did on his worst day. That’s the Tim Walz stand.
A Walz employee, the victim was a whistleblower, let that sink in.
Dont forget the dog. He killed the dog. I can forgive killing Democrats but not a dog.
I have the perfect roomie.
Audie Fox.
I worked with this nut back in ‘77 on a construction site in St Paul.
No surprise he murdered a cop.
Vance won’t last two weeks.
No, but Wiki has this to say about the Somali cop that gunned down the Australian woman who was just looking for help:
“ Noor was sentenced to 12.5 years in prison.[10] Noor’s conviction on third-degree murder was overturned by the Minnesota Supreme Court in 2021[11] and his sentence was revised to 4.75 years in prison, with credit for time served.[2] Noor was released from custody on June 27, 2022, and was ordered to remain on supervised release until January 24, 2024.[12]”
No trial, yet he still faces state charges .
Guess no one will be digging any deeper into the wacky world of Walzville.
Under two “life sentences” in liberal MN, after how many weeks would he be released?
