House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan issued a criminal referral against former Special Counsel Jack Smith on Wednesday for allegedly making "willfully and intentionally false statements" when testifying before Congress last December.
"The Committee on the Judiciary writes to refer strong evidence that appears to show Jack Smith, former Special Counsel, knowingly made false statements during his December 17, 2025 deposition," Jordan wrote in a letter sent to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.

Oh, believe me, I am certainly *not* expecting it.
As in he is “alleged” to have perjured himself. It is “alleged” because he has yet to be convicted of perjury. If he had been convicted, he would be a “convicted perjurer” not “alleged perjurer”.

The makings of good political theater.
I saw an interview with Jim Jordon a few days ago. He basically said that this is all that congress can refer him for. It is the DOJ that can go after Smith for a lot more.
“ But how can “alleged perjury” be a crime? Is this a new thought crime?”
Media has to say “alleged” if a perp has not been convicted. Otherwise they can be sued. It is ridiculous.
