KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday fired Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi as commander-in-chief of Ukraine’s armed forces and named his replacement, following days of mass protests in Kyiv, the country’s capital, and other cities across the nation demanding his removal....
Zelenskyy appointed Mykhailo Drapatyi as the new army chief, according to a statement on social media....
The Ukrainian leader said he made the decision after a series of meetings with military commanders. They began shortly after protests broke out demanding the reinstatement of former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, seen by demonstrators as a driver of military modernization, and the removal of Syrskyi, who they said embodied the army’s old, Soviet-style command culture.

Syrski is a Soviet era dinosaur. He was reported to leave commanders hanging who didn’t kiss his ass out of spite. He would withhold or withdrawal support just to show he was the boss costing lives and equipment. His departure can only help Ukraine.
Georgy Zhukov, famous Soviet General from WWII.
Or U.S Grant.
They all inherited damaged armies, rebuilt confidence, adjusted strategy, accepted losses against stronger opponents.
Not sure if replacing Syrski is the correct move here. But if he is not doing what he is supposed to do, President Lincoln would not hesitate to replace him.
Lincoln had to replace many generals until he was able to find Grant and Sherman.
“Anna” sure is happy.

Not that I know if she’s a good judge in this matter.
Lincoln had the larger army that could win a war a attrition. Zelensky does not.
Syrskyi may have been the right person in 2022 but he's the wrong person in 2026. He is a relic of the Soviet era at a time Ukraine has fundamentally changed the way war will be fought going forward. Former Defense Minister Fedorov was the innovator and leading the way forward to defeating Russia. To the people of Ukraine, Fedorov gave hope that the war could be ended. Syrskyi made people lose hope. He absolutely needed to go. I just hope Zelensky is smart enough and humble enough to reinstate Fedorov and put him back in as Defense Minister.
Floggings of officers will continue until morale improves.

I try to visualize this...
Wonderful beyond my comprehension.
Thank you. Amen and Amen.
Rubbish! Are you just making this up or do you have a darker motive?
Here's the truth from perplexity:
Question: What do the public opinion polls in Ukraine say about the support for Zelensky himself? What did they say about the public wanting new elections?
Recent Ukrainian polls generally showed majority support for Zelenskyy, not the very low numbers sometimes claimed in political rhetoric. In February 2025, one KIIS survey reported 57% trust in him, and another found 63% approval of his performance; by March 2025, KIIS reported trust had risen to 67%.
On the question of new elections, the polling and reporting I found pointed in the opposite direction of immediate elections during wartime. A KIIS-related report said many Ukrainians viewed Zelenskyy and his administration as legitimate to handle negotiations, and that elections should happen after the war ends and security guarantees are in place. Another survey summary also noted that Ukrainians broadly accepted his role in leading the country during the war.
Zelinsky’s first term would have officially ended on 20 May 2024.
Garbage in Garbage out from you AI MSM propaganda machine.LOL
“Can a woman forget her sucking child,
that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb?
Even these may forget,
yet I will not forget you.
Behold, I have graven you on the palms of my hands;”
(Isaiah 49:15-16a)
How big was Afghanistan’s army against Russia?
The Ukraine army is 4x the size of the Mujahideen fighting force. That didn’t go to well for Russia.
How can someone be so gullible to believe in this poll?
Someone calls you or approaches you with a “poll question”.
How do you know it is really a pollster?
Or even if it is, if you answer the wrong way you are put on a list for future interrogation, imprisonment, forcible conscription to the war.
There are lots of people who are critical or even against the government but hesitate to say anything even to some neighbors or relatives for fear of reprisal.
That is an interesting but unsupported conclusion that is inconveniently refuted by the fact that Ukrainians have taken to the streets in open protest against the decision of their government to sack the equivalent of their Secretary of Defense.
More, it appears that the people have power over the government because they are getting their way, the existing Chief of Staff is out, according to their wishes, and the former Secretary of Defense has been offered a high-authority position coordinating innovation of the Ukrainian military.
It appears that the people are not only unafraid to have their say but they are getting their way.
Ok Ill tell you what, I’m a pollster and want you to tell me your opinion of Zelensky. If you answer you are against him, there might be an amazing coincidence that you are now on a list and will get an interview from the SBU.
Bad things might happen, but they have no connection to this question. Go ahead, you have no fear to tell me your honest opinion right
You called it unsupported but I personally know Ukrainians who have told me about this situation
