The damage comes as questions continue over the growing use of this surveillance technology in public spaces.

I cannot approve of criminal activity, if course
That being said, it's the double-edged sword
The Digital Surveillance Society is here (Captain Obvious)
AI Surveillance WILL be watching
Somebody ping Colossus and Guardian
Oh wait, they'll ALREADY know
If the speeding and stoplight cameras were unconstitutional how can these flock cameras be?

I’m made of metal
My circuits gleam
I am perpetual
I keep the country clean
Cut them all down they never should have been put up in the first place without a vote of the local population and much consideration.
There are three freshly installed Flock cams in my small community. The three cams cover ALL entry and departure possibilities from town. I have no clue who had them installed and why.
Dunno - seems like The Fourth Amendment
should be a concern π€π€π€
There’s one at the entrance to my subdivision - the only way in and out. They say it’s temporary but I’d love to see it stay permanently.
Wasn’t that the issue with the traffic cameras?
My stupid state is considering installing flock cameras at all bridges, large and small. This would make every bridge a toll bridge.
Cross a bridge, get a bill in the mail.
Well, good luck with that. The United States is not a country like Japan. Lots of rebels here, rebels with cans of black spray paint.

There is no right to privacy in public view. Flock is no different than a police officer standing on a corner with binoculars, a clipboard, a pencil, and a radio. It’s just faster. A license plate on a vehicle on a public road is not a privacy issue.
What Flock needs to do to limit errors is augment its plate tracking with a handheld scanner that can read the VIN as the officer approaches, adding another layer of confirmation that this is the correct vehicle, not a car with stolen plates.
I have no problem with this technology or its use by law enforcement. If it ensnares a lot of illegal aliens, all the better.

Good for security. It’s ‘1984’ becoming real.

We switched our car insurance to Allstate. Now they want me to put their app on my phone so they can watch my driving! Using the accelerometer in the phone, their app measures acceleration and deceleration and reports back to the company. They say if I don’t do this I won’t get my discount.
Good God, this pisses me off. They don’t tell you this during the sales discussion. Companies want to use YOUR OWN equipment and YOUR OWN data service to spy on you. This is out of control.
“I cannot approve of criminal activity, if course “
Does that mean you don’t approve of the American Revolution or don’t you consider revolting activity to be criminal activity?
Clearly not all of US. Soon they'll have to install cameras to watch the other cameras.
Flock surveillance cameras
Flock...sheep
Keeping an eye on the sheeple.
You could kind of say the same thing about FISA and terrorism until it was used by Obama on Trump.
The main prob w/these is when they misidentify and the police don’t do any due diligence to verify.
What do you get for pretending the danger’s not real
Meek and obedient you follow the leader
Down well trodden corridors into the valley of steel
What a surprise
The look of terminal shock in your eyes
Now things are really what they seem
No, this is no bad dream
