If the U.S. government were a private company, it would currently be facing a reckoning, or even corporate annihilation. On Thursday, President Donald Trump announced that China has compromised more than 200 million voter registration entries across 18 states.
Newly released Intelligence Community records released by President Donald Trump on Thursday and compiled by the Government Transparency Task Force show that the People’s Republic of China (PRC) compromised election data, exposing the personal information of millions of American voters.
“They show that over a period of years, the People’s Republic of China carried out what is believed to be the largest compromise of election data in history,” said Trump. During his speech, he also said that the internal emails by intelligence analysts showed that they had deliberately withheld information regarding Chinese activities related to the election from the presidential daily briefings.
“They did not disclose to me as president or to anyone else, and to the best of our knowledge, they did not inform Congress. In fact, all they kept saying is, ‘This is the most secure election in history,’” he said.
But if the government were a company and they hid the disclosure of one of the largest data breaches in history, they would have been subject to lawsuits, or even bankruptcy.

It would help if there were a list of names and organizations. Without that, this is mostly useless information.
Voter information/roles with voting activity in many states is public information by law. In PA you fill out the form pay the fee and download the info. no breach and the info is name address and when you voted. The info is not even accurate because PA counties do not keep the information up to date. Auditor General stated this years ago.
Now if the US government was a “company” that hid disclosures of
data breaches, they would be subject to lawsuits, or even bankruptcy.
One can only wish that were true.
Having held the position of Registrar of Voters in my town, I can assure you it is not difficult to obtain this information for my town, and I presume it is not difficult for other towns and cities both in and out of my state.
To get information on 220 million voters you need a network to obtain it.
The unsaid issue is the network of feeds to put this into the hands of the Communist Chinese has to be significant.
Just think of all those gun purchase records being captured by an invading force.
Yes. It isn’t complicated. And hell, the CCP has huge numbers of people whose job involves trying to hack systems. Getting voter information is easier. All that takes is organization and money.
If the government was a company, it would have filed bankruptcy and gone out of business.
Change the electoral vote to counties in the state won. Whoever won the most counties in the state gets the electoral vote. Want to vote a million times, it will only go to that county. Mitigates cheating while not keeping people from voting.
PA’s list cost about 15 bucks
The problem is that isn’t the only data in the election offices files that they keep but don’t sell. Things like my date of birth and social security and images of my signature!
Since my state has motor voter laws, for all I know they also have a pdf copy of my birth certificate from DMV.
Absolutely every bit of information needed for major identity theft and fraud is in non-secure state government files.
The fact that the IC community decided to hide this data theft is infuriating and no doubt contributes to the rampant fraud in government programs. I’ve had my identity stolen before and it is exhausting to fix.
