The rise of socialist candidates across the United States has reignited a long-running debate over how far left the Democratic Party has shifted, with political veterans from both parties telling Fox News Digital the movement's success is the product of decades of ideological change that started with cultural institutions and that failing to confront it could have profound consequences for the country's future.
"Yuri Bezmenov, a KGB defector, warned of ‘great brainwashing’ schemes to undermine America and the West some 40 years ago," New York City Republican Councilwoman Inna Vernikov, who grew up in Soviet Ukraine, told Fox News Digital.
"What we’re seeing now is anything but ‘grassroots’; it’s the effect of decades-long campaigns to subvert American thought and way of life."
That campaign, some experts argue, is the underlying reason behind the rise of socialist candidates like New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the candidates he backed for Congress last month, as well as Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, and the various other candidates who embrace socialist ideology.
"Marxist schemes slowly mainstreamed once-fringe ideas like ‘America is systematically racist,’ or ‘all cops are bastards,’ and ‘capitalism is evil,’" Vernikov explained. "The biggest culprits are the education system, which is increasingly beholden to radicalized teachers’ unions, and moderate Democrat politicians who have refused to challenge – and in most cases embraced – their radical, anti-West peers. The next thing you know, we have a socialist mayor committed to the destruction of our value system and three of his cronies on their way to Congress."

Every “college” an “university” in America needs to be leveled to the ground. Let’s fight the DemonRAT commies not pay them to program American kids.
Nobody understands communism like those who successfully fled it and landed in America. Not all, but most, understand the horrors. We see it in refugees from Cuba, Ukraine, Russia, China, some South American countries, some from South Korea whose parents fled the north decades ago.
Unfortunately, oft times one or two generations of descendants of immigrants erases that memory. And, more unfortunately, we are getting rabid "true believer" immigrants who do not want to assimilate but to destroy us (e.g., Mamdani).
The "long march through the institutions" is very true and has been very effective. The commies learned decades ago that "Arise workers, throw off your chains, revolt!" was never going to work. So they recalibrated.
I made much the same point in another thread and it was not well received.

Exhibit #1: William Ayers is an American retired professor and former community organizer. In 1969, Ayers co-founded the far-left militant organization the Weather Underground, a revolutionary group that sought to overthrow the United States government which they viewed as American imperialism. During the 1960s and 1970s, the Weather Underground conducted a campaign of bombing public buildings in opposition to U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. The bombings resulted in the deaths of three members, who were killed when one of the group's devices accidentally exploded. The FBI described the Weather Underground as a domestic terrorist group. Ayers was hunted as a fugitive for several years, until charges were dropped due to illegal actions by the FBI agents pursuing him and others
Exhibit #2: Ayers' wife Bernardine Dohrn, a retired American law professor and a former leader of the far-left militant organization Weather Underground in the United States. As a leader of the Weather Underground in the early 1970s, Dohrn was on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list for several years. She remained a fugitive, even though she was removed from the list. After coming out of hiding in 1980, Dohrn pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of aggravated battery and bail jumping.
Recall Ayers was instrumental in Obama's rise. Obama lied about his calling him "some guy in my neighborhood.

If you’re going to have an income tax, the best way to limit government is to make sure it’s a flat tax, as originally indicated in the Constitution (no direct tax except in equal proportion).
That way, when some lefty comes up w/a treasury raiding policy, everyone has skin in the game. When you include the poor, that’s more people to call congressmen to complain about it and vote those people out of office.

The rat party has always been socialist. At least, in my lifetime. Now they feel free to parade that fact. That’s the only difference.
