U.S. revokes Iran oil sales authorization after tanker attacks

The U.S. Treasury Department on Tuesday revoked its authorization of Iranian oil sales after a series of attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz this week.

“Iran will only reap benefits if they exhibit good behavior,” a U.S. official told CNBC. “Iran’s actions in the Strait were wholly unacceptable to the United States and will be met with consequences.”

The threat to ships in Hormuz increased to “severe” on Tuesday after attacks on a liquefied natural gas tanker, an oil supertanker and an specified third tanker, according to the Joint Maritime Information Center. Hostile action by Iran is likely under current conditions, the center told mariners in a notice.

Iran promised safe passage to commercial ships through Hormuz under the interim deal reached with the U.S. last month, but Tehran has insisted that vessels must use a northern route under its control.

The U.S. Navy has carved out a southern route along Oman’s coast that the Gulf states are using to export their oil and gas. Ships are avoiding the traditional route through the middle of Hormuz because Iran mined it.

Iran has attacked ships that use the U.S. Navy protected route, as Washington and Tehran continue to jostle for control over the strait.

Trump and allies should set up a program where the Strait must remain open and the cost of ANY AND ALL damages inflicted upon shipping by Iran will be 100% covered by IRANIAN IMPOUNDED FUNDS. This would stiffen the spines of the shipping insurers and reinsurers. And IRANIANS UNDERSTAND MONEY, do not want to lose it and will punish (i.e., kill) those who cause the loss. And the ones causing the loss are the IRGC.

I’m posting this in every thread where the absence of such MONETARY DAMAGES ASSESSMENT is partially responsible for the situation.

And, yes, we could both bomb Iran (and/or take other actions) and do this at the same time.

The mid-terms are distorting everything being done or not done. If we keep congress I believe these little sh*ts are going to have a life changing experience.

It’s time to make Iran the world’s largest Walmart parking lot.

So the Iranians are mostly peaceful in the ceasefire like the past Antifa and woke protesters with a background of blazing buildings and cars on fire?

If we lose Congress it will be a lot more difficult to do what needs to be done.

The US administration has been beyond naive, giving Iran everything they wanted and ever dreamt about in that Memorandum - while hoping in return to get a slight nod from the Mullahs… America evidently and as EXPECTED got ZERO from them.

It’s about time the White House is awakening to the fact that you can’t (and never should!) negotiate with terrorists.

The Memorandum in its actual form represents all the goodies the Mullahs want! It’s truly insane that the US agreed to that Memorandum in the first place.

Finish the war, but only after a true verifiable and absolute US military WIN.
Unconditional surrender !

The arrogance of this pseudo-theocratic regime has to be ended. As long as these unholy pissants think they are warriors in a great holy war and are a great power they will be more dangerous. Egomaniacal people tend to work behind the scenes doing whatever they think will give them power. They have a twisted psychological need to be what their grandiosity tells them they are. They can no longer be ignored, and this is most definitely NOT a matter of ‘letting them run their own country’.

Agreed. They have to be TOLD what they're going to do and shown what will happen if they don't. They need to be slapped across the face with the realization that they are powerless to enforce their will on others.

“The US administration has been beyond naive, giving Iran everything they wanted and ever dreamt about in that Memorandum”

Au contraire mon ami!

That memorandum talks about the things that Iran wants, but does not give it to them in some firm commitment - it is contingent on Iran’s good behavior, and a final enforceable agreement being signed. Keep them scrambling, and give them something to hope for.

Iran is sure to fail on the good behavior part. Everybody knows that. But the incentives in that memo are the things that the Regime members are motivated to fight over.

https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/22661/iran-mou-lebanon-framework

Washington Handed Iran the Paper and Kept the War

“The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding tells Iran that Hezbollah survives and Israel leaves. The Trilateral Framework says that Hezbollah disarms and that, until it does, Israel stays in Lebanon.

The negotiations with Iran were led by Vice President JD Vance, who never wanted this war and made no secret of his wish to end it cheaply. He produced the Islamabad MOU, the paper Iran’s regime wanted to hear. The Trilateral Framework was created by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who has spent his career treating Iran’s proxy network as a threat to be dismantled rather than soothed.

Iran negotiated the Islamabad MOU and believed it had won the war. It discovered that the Trilateral Framework, the only binding document, the one with mechanisms, was written to ensure the opposite.”
