Andy Burnham is sworn in as the MP for Makerfield hours after Keir Starmer announces his resignation as Labour Party leader
Burnham earlier said he would stand to replace the prime minister, with backing from former Health Secretary Wes Streeting
Streeting - who quit Starmer's government last month - previously said he would contest any leadership race
After being sworn in, Burnham was met with whoops and cheers as he had his picture taken with around 200 Labour MPs

The lion of the north? Did I see that someplace? 🤔
But the thing is that they have the exact same policies.
Another hapless, woke puppet who will again attempt to sell corrupt socialism, statism, islam, and cultural decay to the British people.
It’s hard to forget Lady Margaret.
So a guy who got about 25,000 votes is now the PM of the Entire country. What a great system.
MP not PM.
Labour Party is still the Wanker Party.
When Starman first became PM he said he sat for years watching other PMs making mistakes so he wouldn’t make any mistakes ,LOL
It's not such a bad system. And not undemocratic.
It's similar to how Americans elected U.S. Senators before the 17th Amendment. Before 1913, Americans elected state legislators, who then elected their state's U.S. senators.
In Britain, the British elect MPs, who then elect the PM.
It's a system that's more representative republican than direct democracy. Many conservatives claim to prefer republican forms of government to direct democracy.
i wanted starmer to fight
let him defend his actions
in relation to the rape report
now labour will wash their hands of it
and try to start with a clean slate
His initial mistake was being a “Trot” at “uni”! ( A very “Bernie Saunders” bio!) Then becoming a Fabian Society Laborite!
Oops misread the headline but I can see why.
would you be for the house of representatives electing the president?
Completely disagree! In fact you have it backwards! It’s a system being choked to death by run away mob-ocracy\democracy!

So Nancy Pelosi would have been in charge of this country for 20 years as the President. Now Hakeem Jeffries will be President.
Parliamentary Democracy = tyranny of the Majority.
In other words, we'll turn into Britain.
meet the new boss, same as the old boss ...
nothing will change as long as Labor runs the show ...
[btw, President Trump was correct about Starmer’s resignation today, and all the fake stream media that attacked him were wrong again ... as usual ...]
Andy Burnham is a terrifying prospect. Another WEF installed globalist.
The ridiculous opera music playing in the background made Starmers resignation speech truly stomach churning, then claiming defense was a “win” whilst his Defense Secretary had quit in abject disgust a month earlier.
Expect more emphasis on digital IDs, surveillance state, jury trials, more abusing the public, but with a smile
um, no, lol. It’s a terrible system because it concentrates power way too easily. Americans rightly prefer checks and balances, and its corollary, separation of powers. And a judicially enforceable bill of rights.
Now obviously the American system can get out of balance and it takes a long time to correct when that happens....but on the whole, it’s a vastly superior system than parliamentary mobocracy in terms of protecting human liberty.
not tyranny of the Majority, tyranny of the Plurality. Labour only had about 35% of the vote
