British Prime Minster Keir Starmer is expected to resign on Monday and set out a timetable for his departure, the Observer newspaper reported on Saturday.
The newspaper said Starmer had reached the conclusion that his position was no longer tenable after speaking to cabinet minister, advisers, donors and trade union leaders.
The report said Starmer was discussing the matter with his wife at his Chequers country residence before making a final decision, but that senior Labour figures expected a clear statement on his future as early as Monday.

Drop him off in Nigeria.
Well, bye.
well deserved, but I don’t know much about his replacement
Andy Burnham is a prominent British politician who served as the Mayor of Greater Manchester from 2017 to 2026.
After winning a key by-election for the Makerfield parliamentary seat, he returned to the House of Commons to challenge Sir Keir Starmer for leadership of the Labour Party.
Often dubbed the “King of the North” due to his high-profile leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, Burnham’s political identity focuses on devolution, public ownership, and addressing regional inequality.
He sits on the “soft left” of the Labour Party and champions the following core policies:”Manchesterism” & Devolution: He advocates for fundamental constitutional reform, focusing on devolving power and public spending away from Westminster to local and regional authorities.
Public Services: He is a strong proponent of bringing key public services, such as energy, water, and rail, back under public control or ownership.
He famously implemented the “Bee Network,” an integrated bus franchising scheme in Greater Manchester aimed at keeping public fares low and reliable.
Economic Equality: Burnham supports progressive revenue-raising options, including higher taxes on landlords and the equalisation of capital gains tax with income tax.
He has previously called for sweeping democratic overhauls, including the abolition of the House of Lords and the introduction of a more proportional voting system.
Background and CareerBefore his tenure as Mayor, Burnham had a long-standing career in Westminster.
He served as an MP for Leigh from 2001 to 2017 and held several cabinet positions in the governments of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, most notably as Secretary of State for Health from 2009 to 2010.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Andy Burnham rose to national prominence by directly challenging the central government’s pandemic response.
Burnham famously refused to accept the government’s mandatory “Tier 3” lockdown for Greater Manchester unless it came with sufficient financial support.
He argued the restrictions would unfairly plunge low-income workers, freelancers, and businesses into poverty.
During a televised press conference, an aide handed Burnham a smartphone showing a tweet revealing that Prime Minister Boris Johnson was enforcing the lockdown anyway and capping the region’s funding at £60 million—£5 million short of Burnham’s absolute bottom-line negotiation point.
The iconic moment went viral as a symbol of Westminster’s perceived contempt for northern England.National Policy Impact: His public rebellion forced the government to later expand financial aid and furlough structures for other UK regions facing similar high-tier lockdowns.
I’m guessing his “orderly exit” will take at least 6 months.
It is likely that the new PM will exploit the Reform/Restore vote split and call a snap election cementing Labour cancerous grip on the country. It will be Farage’s fault if it happens because instead of finding a way to ally with Restore, he helped Labour villainize them.
Good post there on Burnham’s positions. I ran them through my PAG (Political Analyzer Gizmo). Here’s what came back:
“He’s a Commie, Jim.”
Odd, because my name is not Jim.
But the Gizmo is a fan of Star Trek.
Kier Starmer’s a waaankerr...
This is a good thing right?
Migrant sick-up Starmer outrageously warned innocent Brits (who are
hapless victims of migrants) that they will face the “full force of the law”.
In a speech at the Labour Party conference, Starmer stated that this was not free speech.....it was “criminal”. He declared: “If you say or imply people cannot be English or British because of the colour of their skin... if you say they should be deported, then mark my words, we will fight you with everything we have”.
Following widespread anti-immigration riots in English cities, Starmer established a “standing army” of specialist police to swiftly arrest and prosecute perpetrators of what he termed “far-right thuggery”.
Starmer has actively condemned politicians whose platforms promote the deportation of lawfully residing immigrants, calling such measures “racist and immoral”.
You can read the full context of his statements on BBC News or watch coverage of the Labour Party conference on Facebook.
Burnham will be Starmer lite.
Perhaps he’ll flee to Canada.
The next Labour guy or girl will be just as nuts and evil.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
> This is a good thing right? <
Not if you’re a native Englishman. I’m not an expert, like my PAG is (post #7). But it looks to me like Burnham will be worse than Starmer.
As was mentioned elsewhere, the Tories, Reform, and Restore had better unite against this guy. But they probably won’t. Too many people want to be the opposition’s Big Cheese. But there’s only room for one.
Notice he didn't say "law abiding."
“it looks to me like Burnham will be worse than Starmer”
Oh jeez.....SMH
He should take the 1.2 million illegals with him.
Good. He sucks.
Hah....good catch.
