House Democratic leadership's preferred candidate in Maine's 2nd district, state Sen. Joe Baldacci, lost his primary to progressive rival Matt Dunlap, state election officials announced early Friday morning.
Why it matters: This is the second time this month that a candidate backed by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has fallen short in their primary.

Are they voting left of the DNCC pick or to the right?
So the nazi is still in it?
Way to the left.
For sure, the voters are polarizing faster than the party leadership.
Which means congressional control will be more vital than ever.
A handful of votes in toss-up districts are going to whipsaw the direction of the country back and forth until one side or the other is utterly defeated.
Pray for turnout.
My friends we got the former governor LePage as our nominee. Trump won the district but the locals could never take out Golden, the democrat. This should do the job.
This is true more for conservatives that leftists; but lazy asses who don’t show up to vote, allow that extreme to win. In fact, by not showing up, you are voting for the extreme.
its left
the dsa is on the march
the collectivists are in the wire
what is the difference between a socialist and a democratic socialist?
the socialist will slit your throat
the democratic socialist will convince you to slit your own throat
the result is the same
Name any socialist country that is “democratic”.
we are witnessing the crumbling and downfall of USA via the DemoNaziCommie party bosses and their Useful Idiots
despite all the work PDJT and friends are doing to save America
my theory is that the timing is just too late, but we will see... .hope springs eternal
if they worked this hard at actually running a business and doing something to be productive they wouldn’t have to be collectivists. They are lazy but they will fight like hell to be allowed to be lazy and make you pay for it.
Or get a deranged party member to do it!
I was an election clerk in Ellsworth, Maine on June 9.
Voting in the primary was steady all day (no time to read).
We had very few spoiled ballots due to Rank Choice Voting.
The scanner spits back any ballot that is marked incorrectly and the election warden give the voter a new ballot and marks a big red X on the spoiled ballot. As an aside, it was my job to feed the ballots into the scanner.
The results of two races are interesting
First the Democratic race for governor-about twenty days ago the polls showed the following: Shah, Thompson, King, Pingree, and Bellows. Shah and Thompson running neck and neck, King not too far behind, Pingree and Bellows in fourth and fifth place.
A well placed and effective endorsement of Pingree by Governor Janet Mills, moved her (Pingree) into first or just slightly below Shah. The final poll showed Shah with a slight lead. The final results: Pingree, Shah, Jackson, Bellows, King.
At least Bellows is not going to be governor. As secretary of state she tried to keep President Trump off the June 2024 primary.
The other interesting primary: CD-2 Democrat: Matt Dunlap defeated Joe Baldacci (brother of former governor and CD-2 congressman John Baldacci) I think Dunlap is very left wing.
