There's so much to pick apart here, but there are really only three things that matter: "Status quo," "End all sanctions," and "$300 billion." As for the efficacy of a denuclearization plan involving the UN... I just throw my hands up in the air.
I spent weeks coming up with or sharing other people's attempts to explain what Trump was thinking, from the "rug-merchant" delay strategy to the "there's no one left there with the authority to negotiate" conundrum. But reading these bullet points, you have to wonder if they weren't having the exact same discussion inside the White House, right up until the very end.
Here's a big tell about what the MOU is worth. The two strongest foreign policy hands on Team Trump — Secretary of State Marco Rubio and War Secretary Pete Hegseth — seem to be doing their best to maintain radio silence while JD Vance does the P.R. blitz.

Exactly what they said about the last 2 ME wars.
Trust but VERIFY!!!!
Verification is in the agreement.
Ransom, in the form of being paid for NOT making mischief, is a relatively high return on investment sort of enterprise. That is, if you don’t get smashed flat as a cookie when the payment of the ransom goes a little awry.
For years, the Islamic Republic of Iran was paid ransom for a vague promise NOT to destroy the infrastructure of certain other countries in exchange for payment of huge sums of money, cash on the barrelhead, which they turned around and used the plentiful cash to bully those smaller nations in their near proximity.
Well, the US, under Donald Trump, said, “Whoa, wait a minute. Why are we paying over cash so Iran can run proxy wars all over the world and spread their hegemony in localities far from their borders? That ends NOW!”
Yeah, sure, Iran got everything it wanted. If they wanted their infrastructure blasted to rubble and the rubble blasted to dust, requiring a rebuilding effort that may last years if not decades, desperate economic conditions and a stirring anti-government movement, they are all caught up.
The Iran war is incomplete. We walked away early. Time will prove the fallacy of thinking we could ‘negotiate’ with these islamic slimeballs.
Peace is not the problem. The midterms are the problem. Trump can’t really afford to prosecute a war if it means that Congress will change party control. If the Democrats take over Congress it will be impeachment day every day for 2 years. We need gas prices to go down and we need the complainers to shut up. All of this noise will die down in a couple of weeks and we can have a clean shot at the elections. After the elections Trump will in the words of Barack Obama, have “more flexibility”.
We should also consider that the whole too three layers of Iranian government were removed. Give them a few more months to flex and then the next top 3 layers can be removed. It will be much more effective the next time.
There will be no peace. Iranian missles will again be flying very soon.
