Franco-German KNDS launches new tank for France as joint project lags

The launch of the KNDS tank at the Eurosatory exhibition near Paris follows last week's decision by France and Germany to drop their joint FCAS fighter jet programme after months of disputes between Airbus (AIR.PA), and Dassault Aviation (AM.PA)

KNDS said the CAPINT, for "intermediary capability", combines a chassis produced by its German division and a tank gun made by its French division.

It aims to strengthen French Army capabilities, KNDS said, and will "pave the way" for the next-generation Main Ground Combat System.

Initiated in 2017, the MGCS is intended to replace Germany's Leopard 2 and France's Leclerc tanks, with entry into service initially targeted for 2040 to 2045.

I suppose that’ll be a first. Both France and Germany have had major wars with Russia, and....lost. Oh well, maybe this new tank thing will be a miracle in the defense of Europe at a time when tanks are becoming more and more obsolete due to drones, etc. Europe is a mess. And now the mohammedans wring their hands waiting for the right moment to attempt their takeover, with millions of young fighting age males, surviving on the largesse of Europe’s welfare state to survive and thrive. The history of this madness will be interesting to read about indeed, say in a hundred years.

That French gun was apparently mounted by the Germans who assumed (despite all the historical evidence to the contrary) that the enemy if in front of the Frog driver.

Speaking of which, you could probably lay down a pretty good smoke screen to cover your escape, if you sprayed oil on the exhaust pipe (no disrespect intended towards the Foreign Legion ;^)...

Historical note: Porche ( yes the sports car co ) made tank turrets during WWII for various panzer derivatives.

Once again socialists demonstrate that they are incapable of building anything.

Right idea but need to replace the Browning with a Chauchat.

Now we’re talking French innovation in weapons!

I like it.

Something that the A Team could have used in an episode.
