I have mentioned this before.

Awhile back I did a rough calculation. Based on its size, Vatican City can easily take in 2500 immigrants. And of course the Church has the money to feed, clothe, and house them all.

How many immigrants has the Vatican actually taken in?
I’m guessing that the number is around zero.

Fun fact: Back in 2025 the Vatican actually increased its penalties for illegal entry into the city.

Somebody should mention all of this to the pope. He’s evidently unaware of it.
🤔

Excellent points. I have quoted the increased penalties for being caught trying to enter and the fact that the Wall is 40 feet thick in one section. Pretty discouraging to the huddled masses trying to cut into it to beg for a new life inside.

One summary:

While best known for their colorful, Renaissance-era uniforms and traditional polearms (like halberds), the Vatican’s Swiss Guard is a highly trained, elite military unit and carries a variety of weapons.
Source: Wikipedia.

Their arsenal includes modern, state-of-the-art firearms, such as:
Handguns: Glock 19 and Glock 26 automatic pistols.
Submachine Guns: Heckler & Koch MP7s and B&T APC9s.
Assault Rifles: SIG SG 550s (Stgw 90) and B&T APC 556s.
Guards on plainclothes protection detail and security sweeps carry concealed firearms, while ceremonial guards keep their traditional weapons at the ready and receive thorough tactical training in modern combat, counterterrorism, and close-quarters defense.
