Trump Officials Went After Dozens of Colleges. Now They’re Rewriting the Rules for All of Academia

A year ago, the White House was unleashing a blitz on higher education. At one campus after another, Trump officials opened investigations and cut federal funding unless schools fell in line with the Republican president’s political agenda.

Now, after a campaign that put dozens of universities under investigation, President Donald Trump’s administration is taking a wider approach, moving to rewrite the federal rules that govern all of higher education. Demands that were being pressed on individual schools are being written into the fine print for thousands of U.S. universities.

“We’re coming over the higher education system and course correcting,” Nicholas Kent, undersecretary for the Education Department, said in an Associated Press interview. Unlike investigations that target individual campuses, he said the new tactic has power “to affect 6,000 institutions.”

The shift comes after federal judges blocked Trump’s administration from making crippling cuts at Harvard and the University of California, Los Angeles. It also follows a mass exodus in civil rights lawyers who traditionally guide investigations against universities. Still, Trump hasn’t backed down from his campaign to end what he calls “wokeness” run amok in academia.

Through regulation, the administration is going after many of the same targets it hammered with investigations — diversity, equity and inclusion policies, transgender athletes, antisemitism and a variety of practices perceived as anti-white discrimination.

This has the potential of long-term favorable change in America.

Cutting out cancer is a good thing to do.

Has anyone else noticed that there aren’t any anti Semitic pogroms on campus? The Muslim terrorists and university administration have got the message to cut the sh@t.

There was a time in the USA, before “progressives,” where eduction was considered part of civil society, or religion, and was completely outside of government or political control.

Of course, government started “funding” education, then it started loaning money to students. And then with that foot in the door, Neo-marxists then started using education as a means of political power and social engineering.

So, now, after 100+ years of ever-increasing, destructive state/leftist control. Trump is using that massive, collected power to turn education back to something at least partially useful to the nation. Leftists need to understand this.

Remember when the Biden administration targeted Grand Canyon University ($37.7 million fine in 2023) and Liberty University ($14 million fine in 2024).

The f’n colleges helped create the summer riots of 20. They cultivated an army of young America hating Karens who took to the streets.

The “ social sciences “ in universities are finally being exposed for their massive, hyper-expensive worthlessness.

It’s the 21st Century, after all.

“Trump officials opened investigations and cut federal funding unless schools fell in line with the Republican president’s political agenda.”

When an article begins with a blatant lie it tells me where the true political agenda lies.

Errata, The last line should read “...”perceived as violations of students’ Constitutional and Civil rights.”

The deal in a free country -- Your guy might lose a presidential election and yet you would stay patriotic.

For Democrats, that changed in the 1970s or thereabouts.
That is when the Commies definitively captured the party.

And it means they are never really patriotic, especially in power.

It morphed into a racketeering operation after WW2. It was once upon a time really efficient, getting truly competent people into the workforce at a rapid pace. Depending on the school system grades 1-6 or 1-8 was the modern day equivalent of K-12. Those who aspired to go to college committed to high school which technically was pre-college, taught by those with advanced college degrees, often actual professors. Students decided at that time what it was they were going to do and focused on classes that would assist them at college. After high school, they spent 2 years at college getting instruction relevant to the industry they chose to pursue. That's 6 years worth of intense higher education in preparation for entry into the workforce. It has degenerated into a scheme of keeping people in the education system as long as possible, dragging it along to milk them and taxpayers for as much as they can get with spotty if not insincere concerns as to the quality of it.
