Tom Steyer assails ‘Trump’s tax loophole’ — but it’s just Prop. 13

“California’s ‘Trump Tax Loophole’ is a billionaire-friendly tax break that lets the wealthiest commercial property owners avoid paying taxes based on what their properties are actually worth,” proclaims Tom Steyer, candidate for governor of California, on his website.

Steyer has described this “loophole” in debates as if it is a special benefit for corporations, a “corporate real estate tax loophole.”

In the gubernatorial debate on CNN, for example, he declared: “I will on the first day [in office] call a special election to close a corporate real estate tax loophole that’s worth over $20 billion. … California government needs more money.” But Steyer’s website admits: The “loophole” is actually Proposition 13, the popular constitutional amendment that protects ordinary homeowners across the Golden State.

Prop. 13 passed in 1978, before Trump was even a celebrity.

See how stupid politicians can be?

Proposition 13 has nothing to do with Trump or the federal government. Yet he feels free to be a demagogue and imply that the state of California runs short of money because of Trump.

YES, IT DID-—OVERWHELMINGLY.

THEN NEWSOM MANAGED TO STRIP COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES OUT OF PROP 13.

IF STEYER IS SO SMART-—HOW COME HE DOESN’T ALREADY KNOW THAT???

I LEFT CALIF ALMOST 22 YEARS AGO, & I KNOW IT.

Loopholes are legal. They were passed by Congress for anyone to use if it applies to their situation. You can be sure that Steyer, Pelosi, Thune, everyone utilizes every tax loophole he or she can get. It’s absurd that the left tries to paint them as nefarious or scoundrel-y.

“California government needs more money.”

CA government is a toxic waste dump of waste, fraud and abuse. Good luck to Steyer running on raising taxes.

Of all the loathsome politicians in California, Toe Steyer is the worst, in my opinion. And that is saying something.

See how stupid politicians can be?

I'm sick of the liberal political ads flooding TV and the Internet. These stupid Democrat politicians overpromise things that can never be delivered. How stupid can people be to believe that crap? Unfortunately, liberals are very stupid, just like their leaders.

Steyer and others promise a 25 percent reduction in utility costs, because they want to take over PG&E and other utilities, as if state gov't can do the job! They'll end up outsourcing the jobs to incompetent contractors that don't understand the job, and end up costing taxpayers several times what the current utility providers charge.

They also promise "free" childcare, food, housing and huge reductions in fuel costs. And stupid people believe them!

Howard Jarvis made a cameo appearance in Airplane!

"I'll give him twenty more minutes, but that's it!"

Tom Steyer is best described as an extremely rich asshole who is about to once again go down to defeat despite the millions he has spent to win elections, all of which he has lost.

The Democrats in CA want 13 repealed.
Their underclass thugs want it repealed.
This prick is hell bent on repealing or gutting it, and I have enough understanding of this shithole to say this:
Unless God moves his hand, this POS will be the next governor.
And repealing prop 13 will destroy this state in ways unimaginable for most people, and I cannot wait to watch it unfold.

A loophole is when one person pays the legislature for a tax exemption in the law and other people have the nerve to use it too without paying.

Tom Steyer’s Governor run is all about setting himself up to be president someday. He thinks he can be a billionaire president in the same vane as DJT. If he thought it would help him he would be running for gov as a republican. The guy's a Machiavellian snake.
