Claims of racial abuse made by a man accused of fatally stabbing a first-year university student were a "wicked lie", a court has heard.
Henry Nowak, 18, from Chafford Hundred in Essex, was killed on 3 December as he walked back from a night out in Southampton.
Vickrum Digwa, 23, claims he acted in self-defence after the teenager used a racist insult, punched him and knocked his turban off, Southampton Crown Court heard.
Digwa denies charges of murder, manslaughter and carrying a knife in public, while his mother Kiran Kaur, 53, denies assisting an offender.
During the trial's closing speeches, prosecutor Nicholas Lobbenberg KC rejected the defendant's account that he had been racially abused before the attack, calling it a "wicked lie".
"It is not a case about Sikhism, it is not a case about racism, it's a case about murder," he told jurors.
Lobbenberg said Digwa was "a man who likes weapons" who had been "training with weapons since he was 12" and had searched for them online.
He added that Digwa "chooses to carry a sharp knife on the streets of Southampton" and questioned the religious justification for doing so.

Sikhs are required by their faith to always carry a knife or sword, as a symbol of their readiness to fight injustice.
The knife in question is called a kirpan. They’re usually quite small and rarely sharp.
Early reports said Digwa was carrying a kirpan around his neck and a 21cm shastar, which is the weapon he used in the attack.

Mr. Digwa should receive the death penalty he gave Mr. Nowak. As for the blundering accessories to the the crime, the police must be expelled from their police force for the only people who were racist in the killing of Mr. Nowak.
Agreed- I never said it did? I simply pointed out that there is a HUGE problem of false racism accusations in this nation
2019 had very similar stats to what i posted- The number of ‘unarmed’ black people killed by cops was 19, the majority of which were trying to arm themselves- all but 2 cases were justifiable- and in the 2 cases that weren’t the cops were convicted- that year 50 some odd cops died from perps as well-
I guess my point is that false claims of racism are rampant- and that the left have been hugely successful in duping the public about supposed ‘systemic racism’- but yes, even IF the victim did call him a racist name and punch him, it did not deserve death
The stats Carl posted were very similar ot 2019 stats- The left has been lying through their teeth for years- knowingly inciting mentally unstable people on the left to commit violence as a result. The anger on the left is stratospheric these days

I don’t for one second believe someone just ran up to a Sikh knocked his turban off, and called him slurs. Not one second. And as the UK has cameras on every corner I am sure the Bobbie’s are doing their best to erase all videos.
The same excuse blacks use in this country. Beat a man to death and claim you heard a racial slur. Works pretty much every time.
