Take a walk down memory lane with me. It’s a midterm election, and things are not looking good for the president’s party. A grassroots revolt has erupted among the opposition party, which has infused it with much-needed energy and citizen activism, but has also produced some questionable, untested candidates running for federal office.
I’m speaking about 2010, of course. Barack Obama, elected overwhelmingly in 2008, ran into a near immediate backlash to some of his policy initiatives – particularly a federal takeover of the healthcare system – reinvigorating the Tea Party movement among conservatives. The GOP, whose obituary was repeatedly written by the commentariat in late 2008 and early 2009, suddenly sprang back to life, winning gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey in November. Two months later, in the political shot heard round the world, Republican Scott Brown won a special election to the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts to replace liberal icon Ted Kennedy.

El-Sayed is a really rancid piece of fecal matter, who claims to be "doctor" even though he doesn't appear to have a mediocal license in the US or elswhere.
Why all the hysteria about taking racism out of districting then?
Yeah, 2026 up and down the ballot is really going to resemble 2010.
LOL.
If it does resemble it, then the parties will be reversed and that would be a very bad thing.
It may very slightly resemble 2010 in Michigan. That year, a RINO Governor candidate was able to win easily because the Democrats didn’t even try. Or is it every day that Rats nominate a shit candidate and allow themselves to be outspent by a factor of 15:1?
Republicans won a couple of row offices in Michigan that year too (which is unlikely to happen again, nor will they win the Governor race).
And the GOP picked up 2 U.S. House seats in Michigan in 2010, which is DEFINITELY not happening again; they’ll be lucky not to LOSE CD-7 and CD-10 and perhaps another one.
They also did phenomenally well in the state House and state Senate. Republicans need to hold the House and pickup the 2 seats needed for Senate control. If they lose the House then nothing will stop Michigan from trying to pull a “Virginia” in 2028 and gerrymander Republicans out of the U.S. House delegation as much as possible.
So..... what is this article about, actually?
The fact that the Democrat Senate candidates in Michigan are a clown show, and IF the clowniest one of them all wins the Democrat primary then the GOP might win a Senate race in Michigan for the first time in 30+ years?
That would be huge and quite welcome, but a “2010 disaster” in ANY other way in Michigan? Riiiiight.
invigorating the Tea party movement
The movement did not exist before 2010.
i looked at the dems running for cd7. Losers.
All Democrat candidates are odious, so I agree on that. :-)
But CD-7 in particular is a slightly Dem-leaning district and the Rats are going to spend big, and whatever the reason may be it is a complete tossup as is CD-10.
CD-4 is only R+3 too. Which is dangerous in this environment.
The only possible GOP pickup in Michigan is CD-8 and Republicans aren’t trying very hard at all there.
Was he? Was he, really?
53.7% to 46.3% popular vote.
365 to 173 electoral votes.
Yeah, that’s pretty close to overwhelming.
Yeah, my point is that given the amount of cheating democrats have been doing for decades, you have to wonder how many of their victories were actually legitimate.
Not really, none of them.
What “environment” that’s so dangerous?
Yep. I think 2026 is going to look like 2002 where W picked up seats in the house and senate to maintain a majority. The war that Obama engineered will redound to Trump’s benefit. The Democrat lurch to left will help as well.
An environment called “reality” which currently favors Democrats by at least 5 or 6 points according to polling results, 100 special election results over the past 17 months (which are more like D+10) and turnout in primary elections so far.
Ok Eeyore we’ll see.
