Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen of Tennessee announced on Friday that he signed a document requesting not to be included on the ballot in Tennessee's 9th Congressional District.
The congressman described the district determined by "new lines" as "nothing like the 9th district that I've represented."
The Democratic primary in the district is scheduled to take place in August.
Speaking after his announcement, Cohen described President Donald Trump as "the greatest threat to democracy, and to … decorum … and grace, that we've ever seen."

Rep Steve Cohen ate KFC at a May 2019 House Judiciary Committee hearing to mock then-AG William Barr, whom Dems dubbed "Chicken Barr" for refusing to testify wrt the Mueller report. Cohen brought a KFC bucket and a ceramic chicken as props to symbolize Barr was a coward ("chicken") by skipping the hearing.
I’m sure he can get a job at KFC.
I think it’s hilarious the black people in that district were going apey over needing black representation, but they voted for a white dude.

These guys never had a problem when the entire northeast was cleansed of any GOP representation decades ago.
I think some like 40% of the North East voters are republicans. How many representatives in the house? Zero. Not 30%, not 20%. Zero. Not even one!
Also, the gerrymandering of Illinois/Chicago is legendary.
