Wes Streeting resigns as (UK) Health secretary, saying he has lost confidence in PM's leadership

Summary

Health Secretary Wes Streeting resigns from Keir Starmer's government, saying he has "lost confidence" in his leadership

In a letter to the prime minister, which Streeting published online, he says "where we need vision, we have a vacuum. Where we need direction, we have drift". Read the letter in full here

Streeting has not yet triggered a leadership challenge - but he tells Starmer "it is now clear that you will not lead the Labour Party into the next general election"

He says what comes next should be "a battle of ideas... It needs to be broad, and it needs the best possible field of candidates"

Sources say Angela Rayner would be prepared to enter a leadership contest - she earlier said she had been "cleared" by HMRC after settling a £40,000 stamp duty bill

Earlier Chancellor Rachel Reeves told the BBC that a contest would "plunge the country into chaos"

Starmer is battling to save his job after last week's heavy election losses - here's how a contest is triggered

LOL... Streeting is a poofter... Pardon me... A flaming gearbox... Pardon me... As gay as a three dollar bill... Pardon me... He's a freaking homosexual.

The UK is progressive... They are socialistic... They are a lot of things... The one thing they aren't... Is a country who will elect a homosexual as their Prime Minister. The socialist Labour party may install him as Prime Minister... Just to say that they did... He will not lead Labour in the 2029 election

It’s not a revolt.

It’s Kabuki theatre.

My bet is nothing will happen before the rally on Saturday.

The UK’s Deep State is in no hurry.

A very British coup to install true commie Angela Rayner is underway.

The cabinet members are supposed to run their departments to get the needed work done.

The Health Secretary I guess would supervise the English NHS.

The cabinet members should work for the country, under the Prime Minister in pretty much in theory only.

The Prime Minister I believe doesn’t get a guaranteed term of office but is subject to getting sacked by Parliament.

And Rayner might not be the worse choice possible. British Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood is also under consideration. Mahmood is a devout Muslim.

A quote from her: “My faith is the centrepoint of my life and it drives me to public service, it drives me in the way that I live my life and I see my life.”

Not much of a ‘King and Country’ gal, eh?

I get the idea that Starmer is basically Harry Truman without the integrity and political skillset. He was installed basically because he was the least objectionable to both the leftist and ultra leftist factions of the Labour Party.

They can't call a snap election because they would be voted completely out of power at this juncture. They can't replace him because they can't lose their far left base by turning to someone more moderate. And, if they turn further to the left, their public support would be further eroded.

So the pretty boy who looks like a gay model is their least worst option at this point and he knows it.

His whole time in office has been nothing but chaos.

Seem a like health minister is a little slow on the uptake.

Did he resign because Geert Wilders is pressing criminal charges against him?
