Small boat migrant arrivals set to hit 200,000 eight years after crisis began with just 7,612 deported

SMALL-boat migrant arrivals are on course to hit 200,000 since the ­crisis began eight years ago — after another 800 arrived over the weekend.

The total, equal to the population of York, comes as Labour PM Sir Keir Starmer faces a hammering in ­Thursday’s elections.

Only 7,612 illegal migrants have been deported.

Labour has ‘no control of our borders’, opponents declared, as rivals tore into Starmer, with immigration a key battleground in the elections.

Official statistics showed by Sunday night 199,828 migrants had crossed the Channel in eight years.

Witnesses in Dover said two more Border Force vessels arrived there on Monday with migrants picked up from dinghies.
