First lady Melania Trump savagely criticized ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel as a “coward” after he referred to her as “an expectant widow” two days before Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
“Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America,” Trump, 56, wrote in a post on X.
The comic is facing severe backlash after Saturday’s shooting at the gala dinner, in which a Secret Service agent suffered minor injuries after a gunman charged a checkpoint in a bid to kill President Trump and others in his administration.
Kimmel mocked the dinner on his show on Thursday night, giving his own speech in which he said: “Our first lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.”
The first lady also accused the Disney-owned network of protecting the host and called for ABC to step in and yank him off the air.
“A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him,” she wrote.
“Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community?”

Just when I think democrats could not POSSIBLY be more ugly and hateful, they never fail to exceed my expectations!

Carson was the last. Leno and Lettermen were chumps.
Leno was funny. Letterman was funny when he was younger (before he became bitter and partisan).
I agree with the First Lady, but whether Kimmel is fired is not her decision or anyone else, other than ABC.
Jimmy seems to thrive in a hot house of partisan hatred.
Better to go after his advertisers, the same way they do us.
Start sawing away those branches of financial support and ‘the cradle’ will fall.

Democrats love calling certain phrases ‘code’ for something else entirely. I call Jimmy Kimmel’s comments ‘code’ for ‘begin the assassination attempt’.

I’ve hung out with Jay, he is funnier in person. A very nice guy.
I met Bob Hope, Phyllis Diller and Buddy Hacket when I was a kid. None of them would even think of saying such crap. Buddy could be filthy but if kids were around, he shut that down.
Politicians? I met Bill Clinton once, he was a joke, he was totally full of $hit. A used car salesman. The craziest politician I ever met was John McCain who had obvious mental problems.
That’s probably Kimmel’s problem.....no doubt got his ass kicked regularly in school for being a little smartass shit, now he’s got a little attention so he lashes out at those he dislikes.

That said ABC is trying to ride out the Trump term without firing Kimmel.
I think the fact Melania spoke out is terribly important.
He is not making comments targeting Trump which like it or not is part of politics but he is making comments that target his family and are hurtful.
These media companies are facing a lot of headwinds and having been living off cash flow for while now.
Profitability is a problem and at some point keeping Kimmel who is NOT profitable and a political liability as well may not be worth trying to sustain.
It is not just him. It is most of the Democrat party and all of their talking heads.
Jimmy Kimmel showed up in public in blackface; I don’t see any civil rights organizations demanding his removal from a money-losing tv show subsidized by his network.
