The Secret Service Failed Trump — Again
The Federalist ^ | April 26, 2026 | Brianna Lyman

The suspect was ultimately stopped. But that isn’t proof that the system worked, in fact, it’s evidence that every decision made leading up to the moment didn’t....

Saturday’s assassination attempt is not proof that the Secret Service functioned as it should; it’s evidence that the Secret Service has failed Trump yet again.

Despite the gunman firing his weapon at agents, he was not hit by any return fire.

Someone has suggested that the U.S. Secret Service has been hiring as agents former Galactic Empire Stormtroopers.

As of April 2026, Sean M. Curran is the 28th Director of the United States Secret
Service, appointed by President Donald Trump and in office since January 22, 2025.

Curran, a veteran agent who joined the agency in 2001,
previously led the protective detail for Donald Trump.

Once again the liberals do what they do best. “Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory”. Anyone who criticizes the performance of the SS during this event is a fool and should not be taken seriously. The system worked and the threat was stopped in its tracks!……..

I don’t think Trump sees it this way. He sees success because they stopped it.

I guess you could say the SS failed Kennedy’s and Ronald Reagan way back then.

Could they do better? Yes they could. They should learn from incidents that show where they are weak.

Imagine if 25 Islamists checked into the hotel the day before. Bags not checked, full of assault gear and weapons. Instead of one, 25 storm the event, guns blazing.

The Secret Service failed because they allowed the event to occur in the first place.

A couple suicide bombers would have succeeded.

We hear 4 or 5 shots were fired. By whom and at whom ?

Shooter was not hit, but may have shot his wad with the initial shotgun blast that was caught in agents protective vest.

Don’t shotguns need to be re-chambered ?... which he couldn’t do, making him defenseless and easily apprehended. That could explain why he’s alive

In the video we all saw of the shooter running thru the magnetometer you can see an agent leap to the side just as the shooter passed. This looked ridiculous to me at the time but then I figured out that he is trained to jump to the side so that the two agents behind him had a clear shot also. If he remained where he was then he was in the way of the other two agents. His training made sure that 3 agents and not 1 were shooting.

But they all missed.

Only dim presidents should attend the WHCD. It is a lose-lose for Republicans to attend.

*************

Were there any shots fired by the Secret Service agents?

“I don’t think Trump sees it this way. He sees success because they stopped it.”

Of course that’s what he says, hes not going criticize the SS publicly.

We will never know what the inside baseball is.

I seem to recall thwt when a dem faced a threat, and the ss didnt catch it that biden or whoever it was as pres vowed to clean house in the ss because of their failure.

The ss acted bravely stopping the guman BUT the gunman should have never made it into the building with all those weapons! How many security failures like this have to happen?

Don’t shotguns need to be re-chambered ?...

How the "re-chambered" functions is different depending on the design of the gun, shotgun or rifle or handgun.

There are semi-automatic shotguns with magazines holding 10 rounds that can be shot off very quickly. Then you can just change to a loaded magazine or drum very quickly and continue.

Other types that are manually loaded one or two shells at a time, and everything in between.

It may not be the “success” that people want to see since the perp made it past at least 3 individuals, but he didn’t make it through the first perimeter.

After what happened to him in wisconsin, id think thwt sedurity would have been so tight that a letter opener wouldnt make i5 in5o a buikding where he was speaking. Why are massive security failures still happening? That correspondent’s dinner should have been locked down tight... shoulda been the mkst secure building in the us at the time. Our pr3sident deserves THE BEST SECURITY. He doesnt deserve what has happened to him several times now. Th3 evil from the left has to stop

Doctor Congo @10 "In the video we all saw of the shooter running thru the magnetometer

Here's the video. Notice the gunman ran straight through!

The security path should have been multiple zigzags which would have prevented the gunman from rapidly getting through and allowed the agents time to respond to someone trying it.

The security setup was a FUBAR or it was a deliberately faulty setup.
