Isn't this cool! If you are a bibber of wine and strong drink, you can ship your booze to your destination for free when flying Southwest from select cities on the west coast.

If you are a college kid just going home at the end of the semester or grandparents visiting grand kids, tough luck! You are going to pay for your checked bag like everybody else.

We airlines have found a way to sell every d@mn seat on the plane and we are going to gouge you for everything else unless you are special enough to fly to certain left coast cities and buy a case of wine.

You will probably have to find someone to give or sell you the booze case.

It would still probably be cheaper to come to New Hampshire, buy your wine at one of our convenient state run liquor stores and UPS it home.

One day I was in our local hooch store and encountered two ladies with shopping carts full of cases of California wine.

I asked them if there was a big party.

No, they were from Napa Valley, CA, and were surprised to find they could buy wine made a few miles from there house far cheaper here in NH than in CA.

So much cheaper it was worth paying to ship it home.

Now if they could just do this for fentanyl and heroin it would put the cartels out of business.

Except for that pesky problem of the TSA clearance line where you occasionally find someone competent enough to catch you. Most likely a four footed furry creature with a strong sense of smell.

SW just started flying in to Santa Rosa, the airport everyone uses to fly in to the Napa wine country. Alaska already offered shipping a case of wine for free so SW had to compete. I’ve used it for beer. You could use it for whiskey. They don’t care.

Sue them for discrimination. I don’t drink. But I do fly. I want a free baggage check too.

Also how confident would you be that the wine would survive handling by baggage crews?
