Fury as Labour allow major Falklands oil field to go ahead despite blocking drilling in North Sea

LABOUR has sparked fury by allowing a major Falklands oil field to go ahead — while holding back drilling in the North Sea.

The massive Sea Lion development was approved by the Falkland Islands Government late last year, allowing it to move to full production.

It is understood it would never be sanctioned without UK backing.

The field holds hundreds of millions of barrels of oil and could keep pumping for decades.

Key equipment is set to be built in UK hubs including Aberdeen, Newcastle and Rosyth.

Island chiefs said the scheme will support the Falklands’ “economic independence”.

Why is everything expected to be a cause of some strong emotional response?

Trump should take it from them. Just make a deal with Milei.

while holding back drilling in the North Sea.

If they drill, they might actually have less expensive energy.

But, Noooooooooooooooooooo!

Not if the USA takes it first.

,,, nah, that would shut out defense contractors. There's gotta be a buck in every scuffle.

Not if the USA takes it first.**

You’re missing something. Trump is into deals right? We lease the islands from the limeys for 99 years like they did with Hong Kong. Suck out as much of the oil as we can and then turn it over to the latins. Everyone saves face. 2k residents can move easy. Otherwise they can learn Spanish.

It would make a good penal colony for those 99 years. Illegal felons return to their home country after serving out their terms with a bag of cash.

Trump won’t have to take it from them. Milei can do it himself and UK hasn’t the ships to go over the ocean to contest the issue. And of course Trumps answer? Not our war.

Mr. President, London is calling about the new Faulklands takeover threat by the Argentines.
DJT: tell Starmer it’s not our problem. He’ll have to go it alone. That goes for intelligence materials as well. Our relationship is no longer so “Special”.

Argentina will take it from them.

We will defend them against the Islamic Republic of UK when it happens.

Democracies don’t war against each other. Remember Argentina was run by generals when they started it in ‘82.
