Amid the implosion of former Congressman Eric Swalwell’s gubernatorial campaign, the race to be California’s new governor next year is up for grabs as pundits guess who will fill in Swalwell’s leading position.
A poll released Tuesday may offer a clue: progressive billionaire Tom Steyer leads with 21% of likely voters and Republican candidate Steve Hilton is second at 18%, according to SurveyUSA.
Swalwell, who resigned from Congress Tuesday after bombshell sexual assault allegations, polled at third with 9% of voters. The poll was conducted from April 8 to 10, right as the accusations came to light and when rumors were swirling around.

I’m pretty sure its going to be Steyer.
The money behind Carbon offsets and global warming nonsense.
I don’t expect much for elected officials in California, because I know the reality. But couldn’t we do better than Hilton? First of all, I don’t trust anyone from TV. But this guy served for a left-leading prime minster. Before that, he voted for the Green Party in an election, and he said he joined the Tories to make them more green and progressive. Why isn’t someone from the U.S. allowed to run?
Not good. It’s out of our hands now that Swalwell is gone.
We may regret Swalwell leaving, as much of a dirtbag as he is.
Yep, Steyer wants to raise a lot of taxes...including gutting Prop 13.
The Republican doesn’t really have a chance which is why the Rats decided to kneecap that Swalwell. The guy is a businessman maybe he’ll realize that working with the President is good for business.
Show video of Steyer singing on stage.
Steyer was the money bags behind the Swalwell “revelations” and as I predicted he is the beneficiary of them.
Goal achieved. The GOP is now out.
Prop 13 is already half way gutted.
Steyer will spend more than Newsom via expanded “free” programs. Is he as slick of a crook as Newsom? Remains to be seen.

But by all means, you go for it.
It’s going to be fun watching people talk about their support of Katie Porter.

“Swalwell leaving...”??? You can’t possibly be that stupid and naive. To clear out the logjam in the DemonRat side of the jungle primary is exactly the reason Swillhole was FORCED OUT. He didn’t “leave”. Any thinking conservative is disappointed that he’s out, SOB or not.
“Back that azz up”
You know what I meant. I didn’t mean he wasn’t pushed, just that he isn’t the lead Dem anymore.
