An alleged fraudster within the Los Angeles Unified School District appeared in a downtown court on Friday charged with taking part in a huge money laundering scam.

Hong “Grace” Peng, 53 — who worked as a technical project manager for LAUSD — pled not guilty to facilitating an alleged eye-popping $22 million kickback scheme.

I read the article....did the money just disappear into the ether? No mention of its use or distribution that I saw. But, maybe I skimmed too fast.

did the money just disappear into the ether?

Public officials have a way of doing that.

Didn't Gavin Newsom give China $1 billion for PPE, that never materialized?

I think they did make some programs that we actually used, or tried to, like MISIS, which didn’t work when I was there, and wildly overcharged for it. Sort of like when contractors used to sell $500 toilets to the Pentagon.

Stop saying "troubled" as if people are upset or disturbed about what's going on.

They are not troubled at all. They thrive on and do their best to perpetuate the fraud, the theft, everything.

Their alleged scheme was exposed in 2022, after one of the involved parties bragged about it at a professional conference and was overheard by another LAUSD employee who reported the comments to district officials, the official complaint.

amazing what the professionals learn at conferences.

It’s getting out of hand.

The only solution I can think of is stopping all federal dollars going to welfare, local schools, etc.

Republicans and Democrats keep shoveling out.

That was a kind of myth.

Hard to explain. When Reagan rebuilt the military the Dems in Congress passed a stupid “law” that all spending on building ships, planes, etc. beats factored in to ALL procurement for regular spending.

So probably $400 of that was because of that.

Attorney Higgins told The Post after the hearing that the number of pages of evidence will exceed the 24,000 number he mentioned in court.

Apple was bribing school officials back in 2011 to get their iPad into the schools.

They must have bribed the US Attorney as well. Pearson publishing was also involved. They are the ones that were bribing governors like Florida govenor Jeb Bush with $10 million to push common core as new school books would be needed.

The U.S. attorney’s office has decided not to file charges after a lengthy FBI investigation into the bidding process that won Apple a contract to provide 650,000 iPads, one for every student, teacher and administrator in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
