Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a surprise visit to Saudi Arabia on Thursday amid a wider effort to lend Ukraine’s drone defense expertise to the U.S. and Gulf States.
Zelensky had offered his country’s expertise in defense against kamikaze drone attacks, cultivated in its grinding war against Russia, just days after the war began. These promised personnel arrived in the Middle East recently, with Zelensky saying last week that 201 personnel had been deployed, and another 34 were on their way.
Drones were at the top of the agenda of Zelensky’s visit. In a post on X, he stated that “important meetings” were scheduled and touted Ukraine’s support for the Gulf States.
“Ukraine’s contribution to security in the Middle East and the Gulf will also be a real contribution to global security,” he said. “This matters because energy security — and the cost of living, particularly in Europe — depends on their oil, gas and other resources, and stable global markets.
“The key is not only producing new weapons — especially drones — not just technology, but also real experience in using it, and integrating it with radars, aviation, and other air defense systems,” Zelensky said. “We have this experience.”
Speaking last week, the Ukrainian president said his country’s anti-drone experts were already deployed to the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia and would soon be in Kuwait. The four have been the worst hit by Iran’s drones in the current war.

How does he still have cards? Where is he getting them from?

How does he still have cards? Where is he getting them from?
Zelenski’s “cards” come from his peoples will to resist the Russian invasion. No one, especially the Russians, expected it. It exists. Ukraine would not exist as a nation without it.
American and European aid would not have come without it.
The Biden administration offered Zelenski asylum at the start of the war. He could be living pretty in Miami or just about anywhere in the world. He chose to stay and fight.
Some have no shame in spreading Russian disinformation, in fact they are proud of carrying water for Putin.
As far as those countries fighting for their freedom after being invaded by Russia. Well, that's easy they are responsible for the war by not surrendering.
I keep forgetting the Free Republic Commandment - That anyone who questions Saint Zelensky is in favor of Putin - no exceptions. Zelensky is always right - those who question him are spreading Russian Disinformation.
Thanks for the reminder...
Just that you talk in terms of their current president rather than as the nation, is revealing, Russia is invading Ukraine, a nation that we and most of the world is supporting against Russia and North Korea and the aid they get from Iran and China.
Russia is the enemy of the United States and the United States is helping Ukraine and has since even before Trump had troops in Ukraine training and arming them, our allies and friends in the world are helping our side in the war because Russia is an enemy of us all, in fact they are supplying Iran even as our GIs are in combat with them.
Sad that you are so hung up on Zelenski. See you got your marching orders from your Holy Trinity of Tucker, Kelly and Candy.
You are blind to the fact that the people of Ukraine are fighting for their freedom. Totally insane for some Freepers to be against Freedom.
You are so Anti-Zelenski / Ukraine that the enemy of Ukraine, Putin, is your bestie. I bet you giggle like a schoolgirl every time Putin murders a family in their home. While you hide behind the skirt of “questioning Zelenski”. You make me sick.
He appears to be HELPING...at least we are getting something from our investments for a change.
Zelenskly is always right in his decision to contradict Biden’s wish to give him asylum in America. Zelensky prefers to Fight! Fight! Fight! for the freedom of his people against illegal NeoSoviet Russian invaders right now violating Ukraine’s borders with the help of Communist North Korean Troops, massive Chinese subsidies, Islamic Chechen troops, and thousands of drones coming from the Islamic State of Iran - Russia’s closest ally.
He is no hero!
Yeah, then explain why Zelensky, hero of freedom and democracy, came here in 2024 to campaign for Harris and Casey. The little ingrate was willing to wreck our country to save his.
I am Polish - I hate both sides - The Ukrainians betrayed the Polish Army in 1939 - The Russians slaughtered our troops trying to escape from the Nazis.
My Uncle and the Polish Soldiers were able to escape though Hungary and joined up with the British. He despised the Ukrainians for the rest of his life.
Go take your Putin fantasies somewhere else.
Hate is a bad emotion to use for decisions.
Almost everyone who fought in WWII is dead. I do not hate Russians or any nationalist group. Most of the people in them are not ideologues.
I think it is better to hate the ideologies which lead to atrocities, not a national group.
The Poles suffered the most, percentage wise, of any major nation in WWII. The were massacred by both NAZIs and Soviets. Both those ideologies were very hard on the Ukrainians as well, but perhaps not as much as on the Polish people.
Z leetle grifter will be doing corrupt things immediately.
Not a penny for Z!
There is a difference between Ukraine under the Soviet Union and not. Stalin was also brutal to the Ukrainians.
Ukraine free of the Russian world is a benefit to the Free world. Poland is one of Ukraine’s best friends, precisely because the know the evil of Russia.
It was definitely wrong what your uncle went thru, (and I know that some hard feelings still persist). Just like how the people of Ukraine are suffering now. I have no illusion that Putin is anything but a cancer on society.
Zelensky, unfortunately, could read that Trump, for some reason, that only Trump knows, favors Putin. Yes, we dodged a bullet with the Rats. Trump needs to realize that his buddy Putin is helping the IRGC target our troops in the middle east, while Ukrainians are there defending our interests. I support Trump, I just feel betrayed by his support of Putin and Orban in Hungary.
“I support Trump, I just feel betrayed by his support of Putin and Orban in Hungary.”
Here it is. The vicious lie that if you support peace negotiations that somehow makes one a Putin supporter. With it comes the “I support Trump, but...” lie.
“Putin is helping the IRGC target our troops in the middle east, while Ukrainians are there defending our interests.”
Ukraine is doing nothing of the sort. Yeah, Russia is helping target us. We are doing the same to them. What do you want us to do about it? We’re not going to war with Russia. That’s what the Ukies have been lusting for all along. That’s why the Ukies are harping on the targeting.
When Trump first ran, he was more moderate. I knew I didn't agree with him on everything, but I trusted him. Once in office the liberals turned on him and he went hard right, a good thing. I sent Trump money and went to many rallies.
Look at Trumps actions, He set up Zelenski at the White House, with his VP chirping in "you don't say thank you enough". He rolls out the red carpet for Putin in Alaska.
To even think my support for Trump is a lie, is disingenuous. We may indeed agree on most everything else. We may differ on Ukraine. Let's just I am more in line with Ronald Reagan, you do you.
PS. Another Freeper tried to attack me by posting my donation history here. Well, there was a thread about a lesbian couple that starved and beat to death a young boy they had adopted. I posted a picture of a noose. A moderator suspended me. I took it as he wanted to cover for my donations. I called Jim R. a couple days later and I was reinstated. Still haven't heard from the moderator.
Yeah right. I guess “I’m a Trump supporter, but...” has replaced “I’m a lifelong Republican”. You cite Reagan but maybe you forgot Reagan negotiated peace deals with the Soviets, who were way worse than Putin. Yet you trash Trump for seeking a peace settlement.
