Since when has that area been made secure?
Iran has been holding closing that strait over the world’s head for decades - time it was removed as a threat.
With new technology, we need to figure out ways to not be hostage to the Strait of Hormuz anyway, regardless of Iran. There are things that could disrupt supply lines in that area that aren’t even related to hostile state actors.
There’s a difference between “securing” and “secured”.

From the Turley vid, Centcom reports it destroyed 16 Iranian mine-laying ships including some at dock. And 60+ Iranian ships destroyed.

We sank minelaying ships is one thing that happened.
The speaker goes on to say that Kharg island is used to ship almost all of Iran’s oil. Control Kharg island and you control a lot of Iran’s revenue. Other people have mentioned Kharg island recently also. It seems to be a significant vulnerability for Iraq.
Insofar as much of Iraqi oil exports go to China, this could offer negotiation leverage with China. In chess it has been said that “the threat is stronger than it’s execution.” I wonder if that could be the case here as well. Tell Iraq (with China listening) that we will destroy the facilities at Kharg island if the war continues.
The presenter has a nice quote from Donald Trump from 1988 about the importance of Kharg island.
