HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Lawmakers in Connecticut met Wednesday for a public hearing on a bill to ban Glock pistols because of how easy they are to convert from semi-automatic to fully automatic.

The Hartford Police Department said it has seized dozens of Glocks that have been converted to fully automatic through the use of a relatively inexpensive modification known as a “switch.”

What a load of crap! All pistols have the ability to convert. It’s all about the seer pin if I recall correctly. I hate my state.

Nope! Unconstitutional. Glocks are in common use.

For that matter, select fire weapons are in common use if every police department has them. There were no laws like this in the founding era.

Black thugs and Latin Kings shoot up kids in Hartford and Bridgeport. So every law abiding dude in CT has to suffer.

OK back to court.

Also stupid hysteria about "full auto". Is a full auto pistol deadlier than semi-auto? Or is it a way of stupidly being cool by dumping the mag in one second? If I want deadly, I want each shot to count.

It's not like anyone will use it to lay down suppressive fire or some such. Or am I missing something? I'm not a military expert.

And isn't the "switch" itself already illegal under federal law?

There is a reason police departments don't use full auto pistols, because it's just stupid. Zero accuracy after the first round.

This is just dumb.

There were no restrictions on full-auto firearms until the NFA of 1934. The original bill (HR 9741) was introduced by a democrat. (surprise) It passed the House by a voice vote, not a recorded vote. Same thing in the Senate. (surprise again) Signed into law by FDR. The whole process took less than 2 weeks. https://www.thecongressproject.com/national-firearms-act-of-1934

Ran into a few glock switches in LR by FFL 10/2 SOTs...they basically make the pistol a slam fire emptying entire magazine even if you release the trigger. I'd rather have a SBS:

“If I want deadly, I want each shot to count.”

I agree. “1 shot, 1 kill”.

I do not own anything full auto, but I have pulled a trigger as fast as possible. The muzzle always rises, regardless if it’s a hand gun, rifle or shotgun. For that reason I’d never want a full auto weapon.

I can see professionally trained shooters holding the muzzle down on a long gun, such as with the front grip installed.

But holding down a handgun’s muzzle would require great strength and control of the shooter. Even then the accuracy would diminish with each shot.

I’s rather have the 3 shot option on my 9mm AR SBR than a pistol with full auto aka “pray and spray”.

This -after- Glock released its Gen V to address this specific thing and then Gen6, relegating Gen3/4/5 to existing contracts.

One would think gun grabbers themselves designed and promoted the “switch” to create a cause around which to make laws and lawsuits.

As this(and every other) thread shows normal people don’t even want this device and it serves no benefit even to some wacked gangbanger. The only thing it does well is violate NFA.
