It's Primary Day in Republican-dominated Mississippi, where House and Senate nomination contests are being held in the Deep South state.
But a special congressional election 200 miles to the east in battleground Georgia to fill a vacant GOP-held congressional seat will likely grab much more national attention Tuesday.
The race is to fill the seat in Georgia's solidly red 14th Congressional District — in the northwest part of the state — left vacant when MAGA firebrand Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene stepped down at the beginning of January. Greene quit Congress with a year left in her term, after a very public falling out with President Donald Trump.
And the special election is being held as Republicans cling to a razor-thin 218–214 majority in the House. The GOP cannot afford any surprises and allow the Democrats to pull an upset in the special election, in a district Trump carried by a whopping 37 points in his 2024 presidential victory.

It's a R+19 district but there will be a ton of panic among the clueless when a Democrat (probably) finishes first tonight.
Doesn't matter -- that Democrat hasn't "won" anything, nor will he. There will be a runoff in April, which the GOP will win. Trump, typically, has endorsed a relatively squishy candidate who claims to be "full MAGA" (Clay Fuller) while snubbing the truly conservative candidate (Colton Moore). Fuller and Democrat Shawn Harris will likely be the ones who advance to the runoff. Harris was stomped by MTG in 2024, losing by nearly 30 points.
In a typical election the GOP would get nearly 70% of the vote in CD-14, but tonight they will likely underperform just as they have in practically every single election held since November or 2024. They almost certainly won't get 70% but damn well should get 60% to 65%.

Thank you for posting the warning about the inevitable posting of CHICKEN LITTLE treads advancing pessimism.
17? Seventeen Republicans?
Talk about purposely splitting the vote!
That’s just crazy. The party should have backed five, tops.
We had that same problem in our 2026 Texas GOP Primary election last week. There is a run off between Cornyn and Paxton. The Bush wing of the GOP did all they could to twist the same scales.
And the effect? President Trump has not made an endorsement. RINO Cornyn and AG Paxton both have issues. Cornyn has forever been bought by who flashed the money. Paxton and his wife are a scandal.
I will vote for whoever wins on the Republican primary runoff. (the ComDem’s must be defeated)
Trump should mention that GA hasn’t produced the requested voter election registration file as prescribed by law. So they don’t get to sit in Congress, OR GET PAID, until the file is produced and 2 election audits are completed.
Thank you for filling us in on the backstory here.
The gaslighting and pearl-clutching on FR and in the crap media should be epic. Nice that we now know, as Paul Harvey would say, the “rest of the story.”
MTG is *not* MAGA.
2 TOPS! 17 is a JOKE!
All eyes are not on Georgia. FNC hype.
My mailbox has been full the last few weeks. A man by the name of Jackson has spent a lot of money on mail campaigns, and may surprise tonight. He looks slippery. When I voted I was shocked to see 17 candidates listed, some I’ve never heard of. I wonder if some of them are on the ballot just siphon votes from the leaders.
Clayton Moore is a strong candidate in the north of the district, others are supported by local name recognition. Fuller has the endorsement, but several candidates boast they’re a “Trump Republican” and even show a pic of him on their flyer.
In the sense that this should be a foregone conclusion of an outcome — a runoff, with the Republican winning in a month — perhaps they are milking a little drama.
OTOH there are no other elections tonight which are particularly meaningful (primaries in Mississippi?), and this one is for an eventual seat in Congress.
The GOP margin being so slender, they can use whatever help they can get.
There’s nobody named Jackson on the ballot tonight, so that must be Rick Jackson — a Republican who is trying to purchase the governorship. We don’t know how much he’s spending yet because he hasn’t filed any financial reports, but it’s got to be a ton.
The statewide primary in Georgia isn’t until May.
Burt Jones certainly seems like the best option for Governor and would be quite an improvement over what you’ve had for the past 8 years. Jackson comes off as pretty slimy, IMO.
At least it won’t be Raffensperger. And whoever the GOP nominates should prevail fairly easily over “Stacey Abrams 2.0” (Keisha Bottoms, Georgia’s version of Jasmine Crockett) or a laughable stooge like Geoff Duncan.
The Senate seat (Ossoff) is another story though, but that will be close one way or the other.
I’ll bet more than half are secretly democrats being paid to run as Republicans.
This is just another way for the cheaters to cheat.
No kidding:

MTG Meets With CCP-Linked Group Code Pink On Way Out Door

Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene appears to be embracing a feminist left-wing activist group with alleged ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in the final weeks of her House term.
Greene on Wednesday met with members of Code Pink, whose co-founder Medea Benjamin praised the outgoing congresswoman as a “strong anti war voice” in Congress. Benjamin’s group took credit for crashing a D.C. dinner in September where protestors got within feet of President Donald Trump and shouted he “is the Hitler of our time.”
Ugh what a despicable traitor. Aligning with code pink. A year ago l would not have believed it. I was in a credit union once when Medea Benjamin walked in. The tellers groaned and hoped she would come to their window. They despised her obnoxious a$$.
Exactly as expected.
Democrat leading, Fuller the top Republican, GOP nowhere near 70 percent and barely over 60.
Fuller will win the runoff next month, but more like 60-40 than 70-30. Maybe not even 60. Rats will claim a “moral” victory.
