Americans for Citizens Voting announced it has collected more than 750,000 signatures in hopes of placing its proposal for a new voter ID requirement on the ballot in 2026.
Now, it's up to the Michigan Bureau of Elections and the Board of State Canvassers to confirm their validity.
"We submitted over 750,000 signatures yesterday to the Secretary of State, and now we look forward to a speedy review by the Bureau of Elections and approval by the Board of State Canvassers to get us on the ballot for 2026," said Kristen Combs, general consultant for the ballot proposal campaign.
If passed by the voters, the proposal would create a new voter ID requirement and voter roll verification. That number of signatures, Combs said, is well over the required threshold of 446,198.
"We're well over that total of over 300,000 more than we need and also more than four months early ahead of the July 6th deadline for certification for the ballot," Combs said.
Next, the state Bureau of Elections will verify those petition signatures.

Let me guess. You need to prove the signatures for your election integrity ballot initiative are legit, but you don’t presently need an ID to vote there.

Rat controlled and corrupt as hell. They have killed several things in recent years. Supposedly non partisan but far from it
I was approached by a guy in a strip mall parking lot recently (dang was it cold) to sign this petition, glad to see it likely will be on the ballot this fall. The big problem is Michigan is not so much voting per se, it is AFTER the vote when the fake ballots show up in Detroit in the middle of the night so this ballot initiative kinda’ falls on deaf ears so to speak.
In 2020 went to bed knowing that Trump won again, by morning the forged ballots were dropped in downtown Detroit and the location was being boarded up when daylight hit.
We need a whole different set of laws, execution for the forgers would be a good start.
29 state attorney general races in the US this November. Why can’t they come together and nationalize the crime issue? Isn’t it a national problem? Could they put pressure on city attorneys who don’t do their job?
Then there’s the voter ID/immigration issue. You mean the 2 couldn’t be brought under the crime umbrella topic?

Yep the middle of the night unmarked trucks dropping off ballots in Detroit happens every election they, stole it for Biden and the Senate race in 24. They didn’t dump enough ballots to steal it from Trump in 24 but the stole the Senate race.
