Two Iranian missiles were fired in the direction of Cyprus, British Defence Secretary John Healey said on Sunday but were intercepted.
The island is home to two British military bases.
Healey said it was not yet clear if the missiles were deliberately targeting UK facilities on the island...
However, President Nikos Christodoulides said he had spoken to UK Prime Minister Kair Starmer, who had confirmed categorically that Cyprus was not a target for Iran...
Meanwhile, President Nikos Christodoulides has called an extraordinary meeting of Cyprus' National Security Council on Sunday evening.
Healey said the 300 British personnel were near targets in Bahrain and warned of wider regional fallout after US-Israel strikes.
Speaking to Sky News, Healey added: "Few people will mourn the Ayatollah's death."
However, he stressed his greater concern was the potential fallout from the strikes on Iran and the risk of wider regional escalation.
The British government has confirmed Britain was not involved in the US-Israeli operation.

But those missiles? Nah, they were intercepted before they struck targets on Cyprus, but A) weren't aimed at Cyprus, and B) weren't aimed at British bases on Cyprus. Sir PM Keir Starmer wants to make that clear.

Right! Cyprus wasn’t an Iranian target just like Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, and Israel aren’t Iranian targets.
if a bomb squashes you, its no problem at all (so long as you say you weren’t a target).

Iranian goofs prolly shot a few of their B & C run missiles in the general direction of Cyprus. These clowns are just a bigger badder version of their Houthi proxies.
The A run missile are for US bases and Tel Aviv. Maybe US ships if they have the balls. Did we sink their navy yet?
