FCC chair Brendan Carr’s threatened revisiting of the Equal Time rule has come to fruition, forcing CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to not air an interview with Democratic politician James Talarico.
Instead, Stephen Colbert’s sit-down with the Texas State Representative currently running for Senate was posted to the late-night program’s YouTube page—the URL for which Colbert was not allowed to share on-air.
Colbert detailed his run-in with CBS over the interview during Monday night’s broadcast.
“[James Talarico] was supposed to be here, but we were told in no uncertain terms by our network’s lawyers, who called us directly, that we could not have him on the broadcast,” Colbert said. “Then, I was told, in some uncertain terms, that not only could I not have him on, I could not mention me not having him on. And because my network clearly does not want us to talk about this… let’s talk about this.”
Colbert recapped the Equal Time provision—”the FCC’s most time-honored rule, right after ‘No nipples at the Super Bowl'”—which he’d previously addressed in the immediate wake of Carr indicating that he was looking into waiving the long-standing exemption for talk show interviews with politicians.
“Carr said… some of [the talk shows] were ‘motivated by partisan purposes,'” Colbert said, before adding: “Well, sir, you’re chairman of the FCC, so FCC you.”

FCC enforcement. The celebrities chosen by the Left have used extra power so the FCC is restraining them because they understand the celebrities choose only one si de.
Oooooh. Such a rebel.
Why wouldn’t he just have an opponent to Talirico on? Since at the time it would have been another Dem
Such an “interview” is a completely illegal political contribution-in-kind.
Gee maybe CBS thought to themselves…. We already are losing money on this dog of a show- perhaps another 30 minutes of Trump bashing and shitting on ICE wont help us too much😂
But THAT wouldve been worth watch considering who his opponent is
Exactly
And you would think they would have loved that
Normally I’d say good but does it really matter since absolutely no one watches Colbert?
Using the waning days of his program showing why CBS decided his services are no longer needed.
He might as well get used to doing youtube.
We need to be careful here, we do not want a return to the fairness doctrine
CAN COLBERT
“Why wouldn’t he just have an opponent to Talirico on?”
His opponent is Jasmine Crockett, who is polling well against him. Many dems think Talarico would be a stronger candidate in the general election, so Colbert and his team are trying to help him win the primary (primary early voting starts today). They don’t want to help Crockett by putting her on air.
Another communist trying to influence TEXAS politics.
Colbert is a typical leftist who never will understand anything about my state.
We remember when those same media morons we’re pushing Beto down our throats
Yes in the Bush-Clinton-Bush years the Dims screamed bloody murder about Conservative pastors handing out voter guides in Church, but Bill Clinton being invited as guest sunday speaker at a church was no problem.
You could be right but Jasmine has hurt herself a ton lately just by opening her mouth
They could have improved his chances by having her on
Those of us here in Texas understand it is between the 2 of them right now.
I call BS on this entire version of this. I don’t think the FCC had anything to do with this.
“ James Talarico] was supposed to be here, but we were told in no uncertain terms by OUR NETWORK’S LAWYERS, who called us directly, that we could not have him on the broadcast,” (emphasis mine)
Talarico is the nutjob that said that the Bible was pro-abortion, and I don’t think CBS wanted to deal with anything either of them said.

Last night, Stephen Colbert went rogue and ignored the network lawyers at CBS by talking about how he wasn’t allowed to have Texas Senate candidate James Talarico on without also having his opponents on due to “Equal Time” rules.
He then taunted Chairman Brendan Carr by saying: “FCC You”
Is Colbert going to get ripped off the air early?

Let him stay on air and show the world who he really is.
