The White House said the ownership structure of the Gordie Howe Bridge is "unacceptable" to the US president.
The White House says President Donald Trump has the right to amend a permit for a new bridge between Canada and Michigan, prolonging the latest dispute between the US and its northern neighbour hours after its prime minister signalled there could be a detente.
The Gordie Howe International Bridge, which would connect Ontario and Michigan and would be a vital economic artery between the two countries, is scheduled to open in early 2026. But Trump has now threatened to block the bridge from being opened, calling for Canada to agree to a litany of unspecified demands as the two nations prepare to renegotiate a sprawling trade pact later this year. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said earlier on Tuesday (Feb 10) that he spoke with Trump and expressed confidence that the spat would be resolved. Canada paid for the bridge“
No, they paid more but both countries paid for it. This “news” source is a ChiCom

Seems to me that there was a gas pipeline that met a worse fate.
Some projects are more valuable than others and Trump is no Chump.
The Canadian rent-a-leader might need to re-think things.

Why would a ChiCom state media outlet have any interest in this?
Actually, some of Canada is South of Detroit.
I was hoping this was about the Peace Bridge.
Why is Trump interested in a hockey player’s dental work?
Wife and I took a driving tour of the Great Lakes years ago, and decided we would visit Canada briefly as well. The Canada tour was nothing more than dinner in Sault St. Marie and same-day return to Michigan via the Mackinac bridge. I do recall we couldn't cross into Canada or return without going through a checkpoint to have passports checked.
This new bridge appears to connect Detroit with Ontario without stopping. Maybe that's the problem here, there's no checkpoint to stop at?
