I think the Ayatollah’s are taking substantial risk on how reliable the army would be in the event of war. Name a single Socialist/Communist country that exists without a “bad guy” to blame for all the misery the people there endure. Take away the common threat and the system collapses from within because the excuse for failure is removed. Indeed, even at the micro level this tactic is used. Look how Mamdani is positioning himself with respect to ICE. The excuses for failure are just around the corner.

Hitler’s military buildup had bankrupted the German government leaving him no choice but to go to war so he could steal the money he needed from his neighbors. I would bet that Trump is sending Iran messages through some back channels to see if the leaders would resign and go into exile, to avoid the military option. After a few more days of that, if no result, then bombs start falling on military targets, and if no result then economic targets. I would give the regime two weeks of future survival at most.
Iran says bring it on as they can put a serious hurting on the US and Israel too. Iran certainly isn’t giving up on its ballistic missiles as Trump is now demanding.
