Vice President J.D. Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance announced Tuesday that they are expecting their fourth child, a boy, with the baby due in late July.
The announcement came via an official statement shared on social media by the Second Lady’s account.
“We’re very happy to share some exciting news. Our family is growing!” the post read, followed by the full statement: “Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy. Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July.”
The statement continued: “During this exciting and hectic time, we are particularly grateful for the military doctors who take excellent care of our family and for the staff members who do so much to ensure that we can serve the country while enjoying a wonderful life with our children.”
The couple, who have been married since 2014, are already parents to three children: sons Ewan, born in 2017, and Vivek, born in 2020, and daughter Mirabel, born in 2021.
The Vances have often spoken about the importance of family, with Vance emphasizing pro-family values throughout his political career, including his upcoming headline appearance at the March for Life later this week.
The announcement drew immediate congratulations from supporters across social media, highlighting the joy of expanding their family during Vance’s tenure as vice president.
No vice president has previously had a child while in office, making this a historic moment for the second family. The Vances expressed gratitude for the support from military medical staff and White House personnel that allows them to balance public service with family life.
The pregnancy announcment follows earlier comments from Usha Vance in 2025 interviews where she discussed past challenges with anemia during pregnancies but kept open the possibility of more children.

“Every family should have one child more than they can afford”
-Charlie Kirk.
Very nice news. How wonderful.
What is the history of pregnancies with presidents’ and vice presidents’ families? Can’t think of it happening before.
I don't think it has. FWIW, Karoline Leavitt is expecting a baby girl in May.
The White House could hire a Somali to open a child care business in one of the wings......just a thought.
Congratulations to VP Vance and his wife!
‘May it be a masculine child’
May their children be raised as well as they were. Not easy these days.
“Afford” is of course a relative term, based on whatever view of the future that prospective parents see in the present.
Having more children than parents can afford is certainly not a promotion of the welfare state, but rather that the Lord will reward the Can-Do spirit, so be fruitful and multiply.
I know I’m stating the obvious. I did it anyway because here’s America @250 — “too old for that” and all washed up and thoroughly degraded according to popular sentiment — just the right time and place to have a little faith, Baby, and look forward to the Delivery.
“Your Surprise is Waiting.”
baby due in late July...
Technically “Christmas in July” is pegged to the 25th, but there’s also the general statistic that as multiple births add up, mothers tend to deliver ahead of their due dates.

It has happened once before - but 150 years ago:
“Usha Vance will be the first sitting Second Lady in over 150 years to give birth while in office. While she is often described as the second in U.S. history to do so, the only known prior instance was Ellen Colfax, wife of Vice President Schuyler Colfax, who gave birth in 1870.”
Apparently, before, the Kennedys marriage was strained, but it brought them closer together afterwards.
And then came November....
I agree. Before we were married, my wife warned me that she would like a big family, like 8 or 10 kids. It didn’t work out that way, so we had a pair. Looking back, I’d sure like to have more kids and grandkids.
Bummer. Some women have that wonderful motherly instinct and should not be held back. How do you do it without government help? My brother and his wife had 4 kids. Birthday parties had more adults present than kids. Methinks the cat ladies are jealous.
Yes, bad bad bad time for America. Then we were saddled with LBJ, a terrible scoundrel.
Still makes me blue thinking about those times, and what followed. Except for President
Reagan, and President Trump, it was a mostly bleak stretch between 1963 and 2026
Hearty congrats to the beautiful couple.
