Alberto Cabral, 73, came to the U.S. from Mexico when he was 15. He has worked as a landscaper for decades with clients in Westwood, West Hollywood and the Hollywood Hills and has lived in the L.A. area for nearly 60 years.
...
Cabral remained undocumented and on Jan. 7, as he was working at Llamas’ West Hollywood home, he was surrounded and detained by federal immigration agents.
...
Cabral was later transported to a detention center in downtown L.A., where he was given the option to leave the country voluntarily. He agreed and decided to self-deport to Tijuana, Mexico, citing his safety and health as the primary reasons.

I've been wanting energetic enforcement of our immigration laws for over 40 years. Very happy to see it happening.

Definitely. Me, too.
He could have gotten amnesty in 1986.
Guess nobody mentioned it to him.
Many people don't remember (they're too young to know) what normal looks like and so freak out at the "fascists" who are "kidnapping" all of those "good people who are not criminals" etc. etc.
At 73 years old, he probably should just go home and sit down.
Headline broken.
“Long-time Criminalien Does the Right Thing.”
There. I fixed it for you.
Friend of mine had a neighbor get picked up...landscaper, too...30 years here. 30 years to get citizenship...she was lamenting it and how sad it was (and she is very conservative)...yes, sad...
DUMBASS
Neighbor’s reaction is kind of understandable. 70 year old guys who have been here 30 years aren’t what I see as a priority for ICE. These aren’t the kind of cases that build support for correcting Biden’s treachery. They are illegal, though, so...
“70 year old guys who have been here 30 years “
73 year old guy who have been here 58 years.
He gets $3000 to self-deport?
He had 58 years to get legal.
He’s 73, he can take the self-deport bonus and retire back to his homeland.
He’s probably been back and forth between here and Mexico a hundred times visiting relatives and building a hacienda with his tax free money.
Good point...Maybe he was just too lazy to do the paperwork...Or too busy working...
They all need to go home.
That will drastically improve the US and opportunities for young Americans, as well as the countries that have long been drained of their most ambitious young people who could go home and imply what they have learned while here.
You Know..
If it were me——
WAIT
It was me !
I move alot and First Thing
Is Get PAPERS !!!
.
Adios
I kind of wonder if there’s ore to the story. Maybe his criminal record isn’t as spotless as the article seems to portray. Maybe he tried to hide a more hardened criminal who had a deportation order? Who knows. But there was some reason he came up on ICE’s radar.
oh just shove it buttercup
This story raises more questions than it answers. There are 3 people involved, namely, Alberto Cabral (the gardiner), his 97-year-old mother (who was not named), and Gloria Blanco (his longtime girlfriend). Of course Mom is fit as a fiddle, and as right as rain, so she wouldn’t need to be on medicare if she is “undocumented” in California. Ms. Blanco “keeps house,” but as Mr. Cabral supports her and she spends all day eating bon-bons while watching her telenovelas, her blood pressure is low, so no medicare is necessary. OTOH, we are informed that Alberto Cabral is dealing with quite a health situation on multiple fronts. Is he receiving medicare or medicaid payments? Is he on Obamacare? I’m sure there are additional questions that can be derived from this scenario.

Always consider the rate of exchange. By self deportation, I say he makes out like a Somalian pirate. (Well, almost 😹😹)
