President Donald Trump's focus on the brazen U.S. capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro is frustrating some White House aides and Republican lawmakers, who want him to address economic and healthcare concerns in an election year, according to three people familiar with the matter.
White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, her deputy James Blair and Vice President JD Vance are pressing Trump to prioritize domestic concerns, said two White House officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal matters. Vance has been the most persistent voice in meetings, repeatedly steering conversations back to kitchen-table issues, they said.
REPUBLICAN LAWMAKERS INUNDATE WHITE HOUSE WITH CALLS...
Trump, one official said, has countered that the economy is strong, warned that focusing on it could play into a Democratic trap to downplay his achievements and maintained that high inflation stems from his predecessor Joe Biden's policies.

Reuters crap
Routers too? Worried about Venezuelan oil now? So much for the Good martyr huh? That story has been wiped off their feet like just stepped in yard sausage!
Pure nonsense. Even when this President focuses on foreign matters there is always a component of “what does America get out of it.” Mineral rights, opportunity for our oil companies, arms deals, etc.
What we are are seeing here is a clear example of narrative media. Their narrative is “affordability.” Make no mistake, no fact or evidence gets them off of their narrative.
Meanwhile, here is NJ a new gasoline tax increase went into effect and gas was STILL less than it has been since before the Fake “Conor Revolution”
Flu known as Covid.
The top aides and top cabinet were at the just completed White House conference.
They strongly backed Trump on Venezuela.
Reuters will tell us about the inner psychological world of members of Trump’s staff.
Trump should listen to his advisers. There might be a vocal minority excited about Venezuela and Greenland and cartels but it isn’t all that important to most people who will vote [or not] in 2026.
So you prefer a democrat led house to impeach Trump? You better get your butt to the polls and vote right.
Sounds like Repukes just can’t stand National Emergencies started under Obama getting closer to actually ending instead of being endless..
/s
Midterm elections should be for 535 new Congress if we really want 45-47 to get down to actually obliterating
and draining this scum govt
It’s January, for Pete’s sake. By November, most people will have forgotten Venezuela exists.
Nonsense. The Trump admin has far more than one focus, and ALL are MAGA-focused.
You should change your name to Nancy Boy.
Well, I disagree. Down the road, the focus needs to be one how much citizens lives have improved financially. Its a real thing. The narrative from the left will be a drumbeat of the opposite. As the Romans said, the pebble in the shoe.
Polling disagrees with you.
Experience has shown voters flock to the polls if Trump is on the ballot. Otherwise, not so much. Been this way for a decade.
Wow. You said the exact same thing in January 2018. Unfortunately, you ended up with crap on your face.
January 2018 was your same message. Yelling it from the rooftop no less.
What an effin pantload
