Washington Policy Center – New Audit Shows $1.8 Billion Missing from King County
Washington Policy Center ^ | Jan 05 2026 | Paul Guppy

King County’s latest audit shows $1.8 billion in taxpayer dollars unaccounted for, as Paul Guppy reports.

And what happens to the bureaucrats that allow such fraud? Punished?

Nope, promoted.

From Maine to Washington, people are finding evidence of a massive ripoff of taxpayers. I suspect that MN will only be the first of many to be exposed.

From the YT comments:

King County: "Well gee golly, we'll just have to raise your taxes to make up for that lost money."

My county requires two people to handle cash.

Big money goes in and out by check or electronic means.

Records are kept by banks.

A billion here, a billion there. Soon you’re talking about real money.

That’s a common accounting practice called “The Chinese Wall”. 2 separate people (or offices) handle accounts receivable and accounts payable completely separately. Not doing so invites “creative accounting”

Democrat fraud has gotten so bad there is an official line item for “We don't know where the money went” in the accounting system.

As opposed the line items where we know exactly how the money was stolen like

Fraudulent No Show Day Care Center

Fraudulent Medicaid Autism Claims

Fraudulent Medicaid Claims in general

Fraudulent SNAP cash kick back schemes.

Fraudulent medical transport schemes.

Fraudulent home health care schemes

Fraudulent workers comp injury and disability schemes ( not sure how people that are an welfare and don't work can get rich on workers comp scams but the Somalis have figured it out)

The list goes on and on .

Rob a bank of $10,000 and you will serve 20 years in a federal prison.

All of those responsible for disbursing $1.8 billion from King County, Washington, funds that DISAPPEARED should spend the rest of their lives in prison.

King County, Washington (Seattle), is obviously a lawless entity. The President should declare King County to be under immediate federal control. Take away the access to its monies from ANYONE working for the county. They are THIEVES.

If President Trump can seize control of all monetary assets of lawless Venezuela, he certainly has the power to seize control of all monies of a arge county WITHIN A U.S. STATE SHOWN TO BE LAWLESS. The missing money certainly includes U.S. taxpayer money given to King County.

Sea-Tac Airport is a major airport inside King County.

King County government has stolen $1.8 Billion from its property-owning taxpayers, one of whom is my brother-in-law (who pays a LOT of taxes to King County).

Do none of these organizations have auditors?

We used to be audited annually at every job I worked. Sure, it was a pain in the neck, but we handled millions of dollars every month. It’s a good plan for the company to make sure that is being handled correctly.

Why doesn’t government do that?

Actually if you rob a bank, don’t threaten anyone, and don’t endanger anyone…it is likely you won’t get chased unless you are an idiot.

Of course, there are so many good cameras around that they will know who you are.

After working in the banking industry, one of the things that stunned me was how many robberies go unsolved because its just not worth the effort to chase someone over money.

That said, don’t do it twice. They don’t like repeat offenders.

Dr. King must be embarrassed to have that county named after him.

I'm sure his family is embarrassed too.

It should be named Walz County.

The depressing truth is that the people who voted these criminals into office aren’t going to hold them accountable. Rip off the taxpayer? Well, that’s OK if you tell the voters that they are living in a corrupt, broken-down, dangerous Hellhole because Republicans hate the poor, elderly and minorities.

Remember that person Inslee hired to oversee some program that controlled billions and a billion disappeared. What happened? She got a better job. Probably Inslee recommended her.

**********

The underlying reason for rampant fraud is a complete lack of accountability which serves to encourage theft. Nobody inside of government is ever penalized for anything.

Because if fraud was stopped the grift to the politicians would end ... and that's the last thing the politicians want, for obvious reasons.

But you knew that already. :)

Can’t wait to find out the fraud going on in California - where billions have knowingly “disappeared.”

“Disappeared” into the pockets of the heads of NGOs to fund their luxury lifestyles - and politicians war chests.

“In Los Angeles, an audit identified more than $2 billion in homelessness funding as unaccounted.”

“Approximately $1.3 million in government bond funds earmarked for infrastructure improvements in downtown San Francisco has disappeared.”

Nothing will change. The people out there will still keep voting for the same fraud, dysfunction and lawlessness over and over again.

Believe me, there are ways to prevent this from happening, but Democrats control the legislatures in these states, so nothing changes. Sadly, people don’t take the time to investigate who they vote for or what their agenda is. The only answer is for voters to get involved.
